Yesterday having nothing else to do I walked down to the nearby video library to pick up a couple of movies for the weekend. But being a Saturday that it was almost all the latest flicks were out. The TINA Factor (There Is No Alternative Factor) made me settle for Satta though I must say that if I had a better option I would have never gone for these so called hatke movies.

The Cast This Madhur Bhandharkar directed film boasts of an interesting star cast. It has Raveena Tandon playing the protagonist. Sameer Dharmadhikari plays the spoilt upcoming politician son of an equally spoilt and corrupt politician played by Vallabh Vyas. Another interesting character in this movie is of Atul Kulkarni who potrays the shrewd politicians who get away with every thing and remain unbeaten due to their smooth talk and cunningness.

The Plot Anuradha (Raveena Tandon) is like any other office going party loving kinda girl who is least interested in anything which is related to politics. She views politics and all politicians with the same eye of contempt and disgust. She bumps into Vivek Chauhan (Sameer Dharmadhikari) who is a young and upcoming politician and soon finds herself married to the son in law of some Chauhan (Vallabh Vyas) who is a political hotshot (sorry fellas I forgot his full name). But soon she realises her mistake when she sees the true colours of her husband and the prison like life she has to suffer at her new home.

Vivek Chauhan lands up in jail for shooting a female bartender who refuses to give him a drink ( Did I hear someone saying Jessica Lal???). An election being near a quick replacement is sought by the party and Anuradha seems to be the only alternative. Her father in law introduces her to Yashwant (Atul Kulkarni) who from then becomes her political Guru. Anu is slowly introduced to the dirty world of politics by Yashwant in whom Anu completely confides......

What happens next is an eye opener for us commoners who sitting at home blame the system but to improve it do not even care to cast our votes. The unimaginable shrewdness and dirt that lies in the crust of politics has been shoveled out to light in this movie.

Performances The performance of each and every character in this film is excellent and close to reality. There is hardly any exaggeration or overacting in the whole movie. Atul Kulkarni and debutant Sameer Dharmadhikari are amazing.

In the end I would only say that although this movie failed to make any mark at the box office but it is sure worth a watch.
