Satkar Restaurant is a famous landmark situated on the west side of the Churchgate Railway Station just across the road from the Government Law College. The restaurant has been there for more than three decades. It is owned by the Kamat Group of Hotels.
My earliest memories of Satkar go back to eating sandwhich ice cream which consisted of a small slab of ice cream pressed between two slices of waffles. The restaurant has on its menu Punjabi , South Indian and Chinese Dishes.Punjabi Dishes are available after 11 a.m.
Satkar has A/c, Non A/c and garden sections. The garden sections is opened up after late afternoons during the evenings when crowds of office goers throng this place. The ambience and interiors is that of a usual Udupi restaurant in Mumbai. This place is mainly for office crowds who wish to catch a quick bite.During lunch time and after office hours this place is usually crowded.During these hours the service also suffers. You would not like to eat your heart's content at this place if you have to travel in a crowded evening local from Churchgate.
Satkar has recently started Chat section near its outside counters. The Chat items are costly with Paani Puri costing Rs 17 and Delhi Basket Chat costing Rs 40.The sandwhich ice cream which was a speciality of this place has been discontinued I think because I did not find it on the menu last time I visited this place. The outside counters serves juices at affordable rates. The cocktail and pineapple juice will cost you Rs 20 each.Milkshakes are also affordable.
Satkar restaurant is a place where you can have a quick bite. The food quality is OK.Taste of the items is satisfactory, not outstanding. With the type of crowd and ambience, its not the place where you can hang out with you friends.
Recommended for once in a while visit.
