Saqlain Mushtaq happens to be from the same city where I spend my childhood days, we use to often practice at the same ground, though different thing that he went on to become the sensational and an all time great OFF- Spinner the cricket world has produce till now.
In the begning when he started to play he was not as dangerous as he is today, I face him many times during our days at Habib. I think the improvement in him came when he shortened his run up and also when he stared to stop at the point of delivering the ball.
Saqlain Mushtaq is the youngest cricketer to take 200 wickets in one-day internationals. Saqlain world’s best finger spinner. His drifter still remains a mystery for the batsmen al over the world.
It is because he used to practice mostly with Big size ball and due to which he develop it at very early age. The ball has become a nightmare for the batsman all over the world with most of them not able to read it at all even the so called great neighbor Sachin Tendulkar finds it difficult to score of Saqlain.(remember when Pak toured India 2 years back, he got Sachin Out more then thrice).Till now no other bowler has been able to bowl the drifter as perfect as ’’Saqi’’, and he keeps on improving all the time.
He even performed brilliantly last year for Surrey with whom he has 2 year contract taking more then 100 wickets for them.
After the great Abdul Qadir, Saqlain is best to come from our land and we are proud that he is winning lot of matches for Pakistan.
