INTRODUCTION For every youngun marriage is the single most important issue of their life. However, choosing a partner or marring a person you like and actually going thru it for rest of the life are two different things. Marriage is not an acheievment but supporting each other for the rest of the lives is! Can astrology help in this case? YOU BET!
Per vedic astrology Brahma created shrushti and human being then due to Narad muni's pessimist upadesh human being became pessimist and hence extinct. After 2 times, Brahma created Women and Men and put attraction between them and hence institution of marriage started and Narad muni again couldn't do any mischief. :)
--Role of Astrology in Marriage/Divorce -- Brake-ups etc--
Though Astrology is often maligned due to a few jyotishis/babas that use it just for the sake of making money. On a large scale in India astrologers do give a good guidance w.r.t marriages / relationships and partnership. Even then we have cases of divorce, loosing a partner early etc. The basic thing is that divorce is a result more of a psychological profile than horoscope.
Horoscope can only tell if the person would get such situations in life but if they would go to the extent of actually taking (or making other) divorce is very difficult to tell from horoscope. That is why in India although a given marriage might be on a negative side it sustains and carried thru due to cultural background, social pressures, Kids and of course to a large extent due to weakness of woman overall in India. (Don't get me wrong -- it is a truth that economical dependency and what would happen to other sisters or how parents would feel in this age is many times reason to carry thru despite marrying a moron!) A given horoscope might not have divorce in India but the same might have 5 divorces in USA as social pressure, economical dependence etc is not there
Enough of this psycho-astro-logical talk. Let us check what this book is all about.
THE 7th HOUSE in HOROSCOPE
The 7th house in patrika is of partnerships and prominently life-partner. It also shows external reproductive organs (8th house is internal reproductive organs). Along with this it shows many things like Court-cases, long term wars (world war etc: Shivaji Maharaj has Saturn in 3rd house Parakram and Sun in 7th house; Hitler had 4 planets in 7th house) and physical/sexual needs of the subject. The planets in this house along with the owner of this house play an important part to decide how much 'waiwahik saukhya' the person would have. You can also describe the where you would marry (probability) and also how your partner might look like. Apart from this the 'Karak' graha of marriage/partner/sex is VENUS and it is a single most decision making factor that can change the complete analysis of 7th house as described above. A well placed/good sign and house Shukra can give the subject a good marriage even if 2 paap-graha are occupying the 7th house.
CONTENTS
The book cleverly describes all these factors and orients a person as to how to look at the horoscope from 7th house point of view. Once the basics and sequence of things to look at is established everything is easy. Hats off to Guru V. D. Bhat to cover the topics that shape/direct your thinking. The basic chapter describes the above concepts and also advises to look at 12th house as partner's 'Rog-Sthan'. 2nd house as partner's Mrutyu-sthan/Aayu-sthan (as 8th from 7th). Similarly 9th house would be partner's siblings, 6th house being partner's 12th so Peeda/Vyay sthan etc. Venus in Mars' sign (Aries/Scorpio) is also discussed which gives a little aggressive nature w.r.t you know what. Venus in Shani's signs gives a little conservative and traditional mentality while choosing partners. Venus in Sagittarius specially in Mul nakshatras along with Sun would give pessimist or rather 'Udasin' outlook towards marriage (Ramdas Swami: Ran away 1 night before marriage). Also Saturn's bhraman in Gemini (like last 2.5 years before 26th May 2005) gives a lot of trouble in this case. Similarly too many ashubh-planets in 12th and 2nd house to venus sometimes force a person in choosing wrong (if done before acquiring maturity, say in India a girl of 25 years and boy of 27-28 years etc).
One complaint
It seems the author give too many horoscopes that have gone bad! :) i.e. successful examples are not enough! I think a person looking to begin married life might get frightened!
PRESENTATION
Very straightforward and in your face sort of. Also makes you shape your thinking as an astrologer. Not just plethora of rules in sequence most of which do not make sense! The book gives quite a few case-studies with various patrikas from old times to keep controversy and misuse away. These case-studies make patrika worth the money.
PRICE
It is ultra-cheap 60-80 Rs!! The only issue here is it is available only in Marathi. But I am sure every Hindi reading person would find it effortless to read as text is very concise and to the point.
About the AUTHOR
As I mentioned in my previous review of 'Kundali Mantra and Tantra Part 1' from the same Author, Guru V. D Bhat should get an oscar for the kind of books he has written. He has shared his knowledge graciously. The readers get TOO MUCH of knowledge and information for very less (SIMPLY GREAT). Many 80 year old Jyotishi's have a GREAT know-how but do not want to let it go beyond their own family and in the process the knwoledge is lost. Documentation is just not bcos of CMMi or boring processes. It is a MUST.
The author has 500+ horoscopes of each ascendant. Hats off to V. D. Bhat.
P.S It is also advisable to combine various different methods to arrive at a conclusion:
Dash-Mahasadha,
Gochari,
Krishnamurthy Paddhati (KP) etc.
Currently I am reading KP books and it is also amazing to answer very specific questions related to time :: The 'WHEN' factor. (when promotion, marriage, kids, lost-found cases, electricity on/off, arrival/departure of irregular flights, race-course predictions etc)
