We had purchased samsung top loading washing machine WA80TALEC/XTL which has actually been used just for 2 years. On 14 February, 2011 it had some operating problem requiring the help of local Samsung service centre. The service centre has repaired it but charged a whooping sum. This has pinched us a lot because we had to shell out this amount just after 2 years of usage. Further, the service engineer also told us that the newly replace PCB has a guarantee cover of only one month as per co. rules.
We had, earlier used Whirlpool fully automatic washing machine for 16 years(i.e. October 1992 to August 2008). For the first six years, this machine had absolutely no(zero) maintenance expenditure. Thereafter during the subsequent ten years of its usage the aggregate expenditure we had incurred on this machine was about Rs. 6000 only.
Despite such a nice experience with our previous machine(Whirlpool), when we decided to buy a new one, for a change we chose for Samsung because we presumed that it has a better brand image and a higher technology. However, we felt shattered when we got the bitter experience just on completion of 2 years of the use of our new machine.
Does our experience mean one or more of the following?:
- We were wrong when we decided to buy Samsung washing machine despite our satisfactory experience with Whirlpool machine.
- Samsung is not a dependable and reliable brand.
- Samsung products have the satisfactory operating life equivalent to their guarantee period only- beyond that they require whooping maintenance expenditures.
- We should never buy or recommend for purchase of Samsung products.
