Samsung A/C

AWT18QBHDA Samsung 1.5 TON window air conditioner with remote. I recently procured this ac after an exhaustive research. The main points of consideration were

1. whether I need a 0.75 or 1 ton or 1.5 or 2 ton ac 2. power bill consumption 3. noise free and dust removal capacity of the ac I found out the following 1. Room Length * breath * height = cubic square feet. Say a drawing room of L=18 feet, B=12 feet, Height = 9.5 feet gives 2052 cubic feet.

This would theoretically mean an ac of 2 ton. (@2000 cubic feet= 2 ton, 1500 cubic feet= 1.5 ton and so on.) However practically speaking, the room is not exactly 2052 cubic sq feet as calculated above because one forgets the wardrobes, bed, tables etc already inside the room which the purified air does not penetrate inside .

So lessen @25% from 2052 is equivalent to 1539 cubic sq feet. Thus only 1.5 Ton ac is sufficient. By this same calculation for a small bedroom of say L=12feet, B=10 feet, H=9.5 Feet, gives= 1140 cubic sq feet. 25% less from this leaves us with 855 cubic sq feet. So only a 0.75 Ton AC is required.

2. Envisage power bill from Wattage. KiloWattHour divided by @ unit If the 1.5 Ton ac Wattage (mentioned in the leaflet is say 1950 watts), the KWH / unit is calculated as : 1950/1000 multiplied by 5hours per night (for a continuous 7to 8 hour period as the ac switches off intermittently after attaining the normal preset temp of say 25*c ) divided by say average Rs 5 per unit comes to approximately Rupees 50 / night. Usage for @ 25 days /month = 1250/ month. Not bad at all ?.

NOTE: generally 1.5Ton=1950 Watt, 2TON= 2600 Watt, 0.75 Ton= 1000 Watts 3. Check the noise free Characteristics from the dealer. I found that Samsung and National are relatively noise free. Elimination of dust by 2 or 3 types of filters are incorporated in most of the leading brands like Samsung, LG, National, Amtrex, voltas etc but never properly in Assembled ACs. All three above inferences resulted in me buying this Samsung AWT18QBHDA ac with remote which costed 18,000/- nett without any gifts attached.

Tip: Never buy an assembled ac which costs 2-3000/- lesser. You are actually saving nothing. After a few months, the Wattage / ampere goes haywire which shall surely consume more electricity. Just think, a branded AC means a composite unit having all infrastructure to make a QUALITY product. An assembled unit conversely means a small company with primitive conveniences that generally result in an inferior end-product.
