Salarjun Museum is the third largest museum in India, the other two being at Delhi and Kolkata. It is also the largest museum in the world that exhibits one-man's collection needless to say that the man is Salar Jung III who worked as the prime minister of Seventh Nizam of Hyderabad.
Each and every piece that is exhibited at this museum is a unique master piece. It has collections from all over the world from paintings to sculptures; daggers to turbans; and utensils to furniture. The museum made me spell bound and jotting down my experience in words may not be possible.
It may be an injustice to other masterpieces displayed at the museum had I to mention a few. But still as I can not list each and everything I shall name a few things that mesmerize the visitors to this place. Veiled statue of Rebecca by an Italian sculptor, Aurangazeb's sword, Tipu Sultan's wardrobe, Ravi Varma Paintings, furniture collection and the list goes on.
This museum is better experienced than read and said. So in case you get a chance to visit Hyderabad set ahead to Afzalgunj(that is where the museum is). The museum is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on all days except Friday. Carrying a camera inside is allowed at an extra cost.
