Yesterday I visited Sai Om Pizza and Chinese corner in the evening with my son Aryan and his friend Jai. Minutes after we 3 seated down in the only small air conditioned room with a capacity of not more than 20- 25 guys, we were greeted by the tall waiter, he's almost always cheerful .
The furniture though was a little cramped and we found ourselves a little uncomfortable, but just that tad. The ambience is impressive and I found myself glancing around in envy . I noticed that near the entrance they had even placed a camera.
The 3 of us settled for Chopper Rice after we were told a similar menu item, "Bombay Rice" that had me and my son in tears and fumes literally, last time, was intrinsically hot and spicy .
How can something be so spicy as to make me eat an antacid within minutes of finishing my meal(is it Bombay Rice or bomb of a rice). Though it was every bit delicious but too sour/ hot and spicy.aww http://www.
Miyan Rice hai yah Pani Puri?!
The waiter promised me chopper rice will be similar, have the same mushrooms and cashew dry gravy but will be considerably low on spices and chillies.
The waiter knows when I order something it will have some healthy component.on this occasion it was the relaxation mineral Magnesium from cashews .
He placed plates and lay spoons and forks before us signalling that the wait was almost over, I made him change 2 plates as they were not washed properly and had left over dry food stickings .
I was quite loud when I said - kaise dhote ho yaar.safai rakkha karo, so others around about 6 more guys could hear me load and clear .
The chopper rice arrived soon and the delay wasn't too unnerving only appetizing .
Wonders of wonder, this only was only slightly less spicy and sour but not considerably as promised and advised .
Promise not kept again but as always It was delicious and just about enough for 3 guys as we were only here for quick small snack not a hearty dinner and snacking in between meals should be kept smaller than your fist, at least I broke that rule on this occasion .
BTW the owner had on my many previous visits informed me they don't allow ajinomoto/ food colourings inside the kitchen and do not use palmolein oil . Laughing away I remarked then " but I like my stuff only in olive oil and desi ghee" .He was clueless what to say, Stumped .
This place is famous for pizzas and fast food. I am only a very occasional visitor here .
On my taste scale the food barely manages 3 off 5 or can I say struggles to see that figure of 3. Sometimes the food has been so spicy, I break in sweat all over, getting too hot under the collar, actually over the collar, lol.
Once they served me free soup with my vegetable sandwich.Saying sir ajj month ki 11th hai(today is 11th of the month), aap ko hamari taraf se free complimentary soup. I so wish it was not the 11th of the month as minutes after consuming the soup my throat felt irritated from the excess sourness used .
On another occasion the owner dropped the bill total by 20% as he stated, sir noon time .Happy hours hain, pls pay only the reduced amount . The owner tries everything up his sleeves to keep the customer happy . He will always greet me and my family members and engage in talks with my son .
Perfect PR builder hai. He is actually quite a likeable guy.
The grilled sandwiches are sometimes quite crisp and taste to a perfection but on some other occasions they are slightly overdone in the griller and bear a burnt taste.
Most of the times I am here only for my sandwiches, as I like to pile up on dietary fiber, more than any other person you will ever meet.
Mera funda- don't count your calories count your fiber. Yeh bhi ekdum sach hai- I use olive oil, desi ghee or filtered mustard oil mainly for cooking . Add to that virgin coconut oil but a little sparingly as it doesn't go well with all recipes .
Lets sum it up than - to eat or not to eat here? well this eatery isn't bad but there is some room for improvement . Owner if you are reading me - go easy on the chillies and whatever you use to spice the stuff and pls pls keep the sourness low .Pls also maintain better hygiene practises by cleaning the plates and cutlery better .
