Ok, so when was the last time you wanted to stay in a luxury hotel in Bombay. I have stayed in several hotels in Bombay at various times for various lengths (hey Kishore do I sound like you now? Trying to prove you are an expert!) On two ocassions I have stayed at the Centaur Hotel next to the Domestic Airport in Bombay.
Staying in Centaur can be a nightmare if you do not know how the Indian government works.
Upon entering this hotel, you will find a HUGE lobby. Huge is not the word...HUGE-HUGE is the word. But it is shabby, and often not dusted. To your right you will find a cafeteria. I had some business meeting and invited two guys over snacks here, we ordered fries. Oh god, they were the worst fries you could order! Cold, stale.
Lobby
------
The sofas and sitting area looks unkempt. I wonder if they have a facilities manager?
Pool
-----
Centaur has a BIG pool. As I said, Indian government, everything is BIG but they dont know how to manage. So you will find plaster chipping off or tiles coming out here and there. One good thing is that the Pool is very convineintly located in the center of the hotel complex.
Rooms
------
Upstairs, rooms are bright but sheets are old and it smells of pesticide, probably they spray insectide pesticide everyday. Carpets could be cleaned more often and please they need a real change.
Interior
--------
Lightning can be changed, so that it reflects the modern era we live in. Still many parts are using the mundane homely tubelight.
The bills are printed on BUTTER paper. Can you beleive that...filmsy butter paper...and are scribbled by hand. They should get a cash register or printer!
From the outside the hotel looks like it was constructed in 70s and never painted. Please paint it.
Service:
--------
Service is ok, if you know how to get it done. Usually the staff here is not too busy, so they will promptly serve you.
Recently I think the Indian government sold this hotel to someone. I hope they carry out the much needed renovation. and please NO FREE ROOMS for government employees.
MY verdict!
-----------------
Overall it's not that bad, but I am such a big cynic, I can make anything bad. But something bad should be called bad! Baazee.com is bad. Avoid it. Am I loosing focus on topic, ohhhhh...
The room charges here are comparable to many other hotels of same class. So please avoid this hotel, you will get better value elsewhere!
