This is one of my all times favorite eating joint with authentic flavors from South.
For a novice in South Indian food, this restaurant could be the learner's book as well as the bible for it. The quality of the food is excellent and so is the price. The service is super fast and your dish arrives even before you can say 'abracadabra'!!
I am a regular to both the defence colony market as well as the one in Lodhi hotel. Though its a wrestling match just to get inside the Def. Col. one during peak lunch/dinner times.
Another plus to its credit is that the taste and the quality are at par in both of these outlets.
My favorite dish is Kanjivaram idli and the gunpowder served. Its appam is also commendable. For the dosa lovers a must eat is 'rava masala'.
The only sore point in sagar ratna (lodhi hotel) was that the furniture as well as the cutlery was so dirty that it killed my appetite. The upholstery was sticky and mucky. And I could not get the picture of sambar sticking to one of the chairs right next to my table. My whole idea of a good south Indian restaurant was to visit this place and this was ruined. I vowed never to go back to the dirt house.
I wish they would update their upholstery and cutlery as efficiently as their service for the food itself.
