Whenever I see Sachin, I often remember Shilpa (one of my roommates in my hostel), who literally showed her right on Sachin. Always yelling “Hey Sachin ka naam nahi lena, Sachin is mine” At times, I wondered what did this young lad have in him that this girl was so mad. We all used to laugh and used to irritate her no end. Those times where the girls of our hostel used to go mad about the Khans. Shilpa stood apart with her very own Sachin.
India being a secular county where in different people follow and believe in different religion do follow one common religion, Cricket. Say Cricket, the topic does not get over without the mention of Sachin. He is been worshipped as the God of Cricket all over the world.
Born on 24th April1973, this curly haired lad played his debut match against Pakistan in the year 1989-90. His major teams are Mumbai, Yorkshire and India.
He made his international debut against the roaring pace of Akram and Younis. Then went to England as the member of the national team and since then has never looked back. Within 15 years of cricket, almost all the records are to his credits. He has reached to such heights which any cricketer could just dream about.
Time and again, he has proved that he is the best in the sport and nothing can work against him. His sheer determination and devotion to the sport can be measured when he resigned from the captaincy just to concentrate on his batting which is considered the pulse of Indian batting.
His name itself is enough to give restless nights to the most challenging bowlers of the world. His worldclass knock at the recent world cup against Pakistan and that too against Shoaib Akhtar was just mindblowing. The way he batted till the end with the injury was far beyond words to describe. And then who says..Sachin does not win any matches for India, Sachin has always played great innings whenever India needed him the most.
It’s the most splendid sight when Tendulkar is on a rampage..as always…tearing and breaking the gaps all round the ground and puts on a mammoth score. He is been most admired for his batting skills but he creates magic with the ball as well. He is always there when India did require a breakthrough badly.
Sachin is undoubtedly the God, the king of the game. He has been compared to the cricketing legend Sir Don Bradman by no less than the great man himself. He has scored heavily on all kinds of wickets world over in almost any conditions and has scored brilliantly against most of the dreaded bowlers of the world. He is a great thinker of the game and a good strategist too. Immensely gifted and blessed with an impeccable style, Tendulkar’s batting is a dream combined with brilliant timing, elegance and power. His classic strokeplays and cover drives just makes the spectator go gaga on their feet.
Mentally very strong, Tendulkar is at its best when confonted by a challenge. He’s proved his mettle in the game against Pakistan during World Cup and the one game where he had joined the Indian team soon after his father’s demise in the 1999 world cup. (remember our debacle against Zimbabwe which did cost us dearly throughout the series).
Sachin has been an inspiration for his fellow mates and his mere presence with the bat can lead India to victories. History says that the moment Sachin gets out, India switches off the TV. This conveys the message that just his presence can create the difference…
A thorough gentleman to the gentlemen’s game. No untoward incident can be associated to this cool guy. He tends to be this very down to earth, level headed and a gentle person. No arguments, no flaring looks or anything else for that matter, he is been the same Sachin since his debut.
No ego hassles at all, not even when he was deprived of his 6 runs for that double century in the Multan test when the acting Captain declared the innings. He very rightly said that whatever has happened has happened, we would just go on with the game and try our best to win it. He did not loose his cool that’s what is Sachin about..
He is the batting genius, a true legend in the spirit and I admit here that we are lucky to have him playing in our generation. We not only Indians, but cricket lovers all over the world enjoy his game and love and respect him immensely.
