Few Days back the twin Cities were having a bandh, due to the agitation for Telangana, that Day as I was driving down the Road No 3 for a Bite, I found this funny looking tiny Roll Call "Kolkata Rolls" A snacks Adda for the first time. Even though I had been many times to Subway, I did not notice this place just a few steps away as it stood a insignificant, a shady place.except for the throngs of people standing outside munching Rolls.
The name signifies Roll Call as in attendance for students in schools and colleges and also "Calling of the Rolls" is a joint that specializes in "Kolkata Rolls" and goes with a by line "Where Kolkatta Beckons you". I don't know If the chefs have been specially imported from Kolkata but the Bengali grubbish they were speaking did tell me they were imported.These is my fourth place I have tried out the Calcutta Food.
They serve a variety of Rolls yep Rolls and Rolls - Egg Rolls, Chicken Rolls, Mutton Rolls, Fish Rolls, Veg Rolls, Paneer Rolls, Cutlets, Chops, Pakodas - all in Kolkata Istyle with a throw in of Moughlai Parathas. The Best of these is the Double Egg Double Chicken Moughlai Paratha. The oil spilled over these parathas is quite liberal, so don't worry about the Fat content. Also they are Liberal with the usage of Sauce and Ketchup as if its a Frankie, but was happy with the onions, chilies and dash of Lime. The rolls are very good - made fresh, right in front of you, and taste authentic and nearly perfect.
The Rolls must have become quiet a rage among students of MJCET/ICFAI, employees of companies in and around Nagarjuna Circle and also of Shoppers. The fastest selling items here are the chicken egg rolls, fish cutlets, and Kobiraji Cutlet. I came to know that Kobiraji cutlet is a must try as this dish is available only in Kolkata, and is a favorite among Bengalis themselves.
You can attend Session at Begumpet - Lifestyle Building, Road No 2-Lumbini Chambers, Road No. 36 - Jubilee Hills, Kondapur, Sainikpuri, Big Cinemas- Ameerpet, RGI Air Port-Shamshabad, Below DCB Bank Hitech City-Madhapur. I attended the session at Road No 3-Besdies Subway, Nagarjuna Circle.
The place is packed with Kitchen, a Fridge for Soft Drinks and Water and a Cash Counter, all with in a space hardly of 5 feet wide and 10 feet deep. Its like a open air school, there is NO place to sit inside, just a few stools and plastic chairs thrown out side, while you wait for the food to arrive. or just sit outside on the pavement, or in your car or On your two wheeler and get the "street eatery" feeling of Kolkata. I would suggest you, to call up and request the chef to keep your roll ready, go there and eat in your vehicle or best take away home.
The expenditure for attending the Roll Call Session, with the Kolkata Spirit of Street Joints is inexpensive and affordable. The starting fare is a minimum of Rs. 35 for Egg Roll or Allu 65 Roll and the maximum goes up to Rs. 85 for a Chicken/Mutton/Fish Moughlai Paratha. They are good on taste and pocket, when you are really hungry and don't want to spend on healthy food just next door Subway. BTW Don't peep too long into the kitchen. Keep your eyes shut and Nose open.And you can salivate the lips as you wait You will Love it.
