I have been using Revlon's Colorstay Active foundation for the past month. It is brand new here in the U.S. I am not a big fan of foundation. I am pretty simple. I use moisturiser, eyeliner, and sometimes mascara. Foundation does give you a more polished look though. It makes your skin tone look more even, and it can cover those little imperfections like blemishes. I had a coupon to try this foundation for free, and I had used the original Colorstay foundation in the past. The difference in this formula is that it has a lighter consistency than the original. It feels more like a moisture cream in your hand. It also does not set as quickly as the original, so you have a little more time to blend it evenly. It has an SPF of 25, which is great for someone like me who is very fair and burns easily. The best part is that it is sweatproof during normal exercise activities like walking or playing a sport. It held up when I worked out on the treadmill, and I can work up quite a sweat.
The secret to using these Colorstay foundations is to apply a moisturiser beforehand and make sure it is completely soaked in first. I find that if I skip the moisturiser, the foundation of the original Colorstay used to cake and flake during the day. The moisturiser will make the foundation glide more easily on your face and help the formula set. The other trick is when you are removing the foundation. Since it is a longwearing formula it can be stubborn to remove. I have found that using a mild cleanser like baby shampoo, yes baby shampoo, and removing with a washcloth removes every trace of the foundation. It also removes stubborn eye makeup without burning the eyes. I highly recommend this foundation. It is a bit pricey for a drug store brand, but a little bit goes a long way. One tube will last me 3 months.
