Charges and Billing:

I have been a Reliance customer since July’2004. I was initially with their Joy399 for few months later moved to Joy499 plan. Initially, when I signed up with Reliance I wanted to give a try though I was warned of Billing issues etc…Since my usage pattern suited their Postpaid plans I continued without any major issues till Jan’16, 2006. I was primarily using long distance calls and my monthly average was around Rs 1000-1100. Recently, they introduced a prepaid plan called One India One Rate plan.

With my Joy plans I used to make 300+ STD calls & 50 Local calls per month for which I was paying around Rs 1000. Since this One India One Rate gives 750 minutes of talk time (STD+Local) for Rs 1100 I went for this.

I signed up with the Prepaid for which I was credited with Rs 50 worth of talk time; later I recharged with Rs 1100 easy recharge for which I received Rs 750 minutes of talk time at the rate of Rs 1.00 pm for a period one month. So my account is credited with Rs 800 worth of talk time.

So far so good!

Suddenly, from Feb’01, 2006 my account balance was showing like Six Hundred Rupees 55 paise kind of balance! To my surprise I found out that my calls are NOT charged @ 1.00 PM instead some weird rates randomly. It was like, if the system does not like that call it will bill it at Rs 2.49 pm, if it likes then it would charge @ Rs 1.79 pm etc…

When I reported this incident to Reliance CC, they initially told it would take 48 hrs to get back. I waited for 72 hrs and asked them what was the status. Again as usual they told my case was in ‘Solving’ status need to wait for another 24 hours. I waited again. This time when I check after 48 hours, they told I would receive a call within 2 hours. I waited for 2 days then asked for a solution. One lady promised me that the issue is taken up as High-Priority. My recharge account will be over by Feb’16, 2006 so I kept on asking them again and again.

Again after 24 hours one CC laughed at me and told me what else can I do as customer? He was challenging me that I can not disconnect my line as I have invested heavily on handset.

By this time I have made up my mind to quit RIM.

Recently my mother is admitted in a hospital and I wanted to make frequent STD calls to check with my dad but my account balance is getting reduced like anything which was preventing me from making indiscriminate calling. But for that purpose only I went for this plan.

Yesterday, I just thought of checking my status by registering a strong complaint; this time I got transferred to a Manager AO. He was saying Reliance has millions of customers and they need not spend so much time on one customer and Reliance will not go bankrupt if one customer decides to quit and started making fun. I had no other option to disconnect the call.

My humble request to all Reliance customers who have the option of moving out of Reliance; please do so!

My wish is, Reliance Infocom to go bankrupt.
