Reliance Infocomm has a mobile internet connection card called the Reliance R-connect card which fits into the PMCIA slot of laptop and "guarantees" "reliable", "high-speed" connectivity, with speeds upto 144 kbps. All the above are not my words, they are from their ads.
i bought a Reliance R-Connect card in June 2006 from a Mr Manoj specifically for the purpose of being net connected in my clinics and consulting rooms as a plastic surgeon.Since buying it, it was nearly impossible to connect to the net. On an average, I would have to try 20 times before I could connect once. Sometimes and much more often than I could, I could not connect at all. If there were 20 separate days on which I tried, I would connect on 2 days.
The phone facility and the SMSs were working fine. I brought this to the attention of their customer service executives on *333 as well as on 30334343 on 2-3 occasions. I also contacted Mr Manoj who sold me the card on several occasions. Finally after nearly 1 month, and after paying 2 bills without almost not using the net facility for which it was bought, my complaint was heeded by Mr Manoj who himself tried to connect on my card without success. He then took it away nearly 2 weeks ago promising to rectify the fault. Ever since, he has not responded to dozens of my calls or to my SMSs. I am shocked, deeply disappointed and disgusted with this shoddy apathetic and inefficient attitude. I do not know whether individual customers like me matter to this huge company at all.
