WITH OPEN ARMS
On the day that we are born,
an angel is assigned
To give us reassurance
we’re always on God’s mind.
Yes! It’s true; we have free will,
which often goes awry,
And when disaster happens,
we always ask God why.
We are not Heaven’s robots –
each has a face and name,
And when things don’t go our ways,
God’s not the one to blame.
The evil that’s among us
results from our free will,
Though innocents will suffer,
God’s love is with us, still.
He weeps for evil’s victims
whose innocence was lost.
He wails for all His children
whose lives had paid the cost.
He hung His head in sorrow,
looking down from Heaven,
Then gathered all His angels
on September eleven.
God ordered all the angels
to stand behind His Gate
And form two lines in Heaven,
then bow their heads and wait.
On His command, Heaven’s gate
was quickly opened wide.
With a Father’s love and outstretched arms,
He welcomed all inside.
