Are you really READY to risk your brain with the contamination of stupidity which can make you giggle a bit and dismiss it later? Are you ready to see the joy of children who watches the movie with a lot of fun with the cartoon characters and their mockery? Are you really ready for READY? Said to be remake of Telugu film READY, this is a mindless comedy film with a clear intention to entertain people and nothing more.
Prem (Yes, again Prem) (Salman Khan) is the aged and eligible bachelor whose hobby is to get lovers meet. The happy joint family of 3 brothers and relatives are trying hard to engage Prem but with no success. When the local priest predicts that Pooja who will be coming from US will be the best suit for Prem, the family is all expecting this new bride. Sanjana Singh (Asin Thottungal) is a runaway bride who just landed in airport to fly away but without passport. Knowing that Prem & Co is expecting a Pooja, she becomes one to get a shelter from the warring Goon families. The stage is ready for rest of the drama.
Cartoonish in nature, READY definitely is a light entertainer. At times it tries to mock the bollywood family dramas with its funny pathos. At heart it too is a family drama which preaches about family values and need of harmony and the stuff. The relief is that they don't stress it in the sentimental way. There is nothing, absolutely nothing in the storyline. Even if India manages to find out the owners of the IP addresses who assisted in the Mumbai attack, you will not find out anything new in the storyline. The makers however never believed that to make a movie we need a fresh storyline but small doses of light and funny gimmicks. The dialogues are quite funny at times. Screen play is weak. Direction is average. A cautious Anees Bazmee doesn't make any forward step but plays his game from a safe ground.
Salman Khan satisfies his fans with a good overall performance. (Beware, it is no Dabangg.) Asin is good as the 200 Crore worth doll girl (or not so) and at times she resembles Genelia (probably the hangover from the Telugu READY). Paresh Rawal tried his best to be funny but he had no whatsoever from the writers. Rest of the Goons and relatives did their roles comfortably.
Cinematography is just ok, nothing special. Music is hummable and trendy. Choreography is impressive at times but lacks the excellence tag, thanks to some silly mess ups here and there. (Probably the editor could have helped a bit here) With huge sets and lot of artists it could have been made much better. As such it can be only branded as good, not very good.
The film is primarily recommended for children and who love the company of children. Any body who dare to take their brain nuclear to the cinema hall is exposing themselves for a Tsunami attack, probably on 11th hour. (If you get a headache when you watch the movie, it is a symptom that you are permitting to damage some part of your brain plants. Close it fast, so that the tsunami waves cannot worsen the damage.)
