Kavya Vishwanathans of Mouthshut. Review on Reading Reviews on MouthShut

I am not a regular writer or reader on Mouthshut.com. I only read and review about few topics that interest me. I rarely read about Movies on Mouthshut.com but today I had nothing much to do so I thought why not read some movie reviews on MS for a change. I read one review on a movie on MS and I thought I have read it before on some other website. But that couldn’t be because that was the first review on that particular movie I had ever read. Still the language, used in the review was extremely similar to one of my previously read reviews.

I put a lot of pressure on my brain and remembered that I had read a similar review on the website indiafm.com.

I opened the review that I had read on indiafm.com and compared it with the review on MS. I was shocked to see that the review on MS was same as the review on indiafm.com; the only difference was that both the reviews were on different movies but the language used in both the reviews was the same. The MS reviewer had simply changed the names of the characters and actors of the original review with new names. Then I thought again maybe indiafm.com copies the reviews given on MS but again that was not possible because the review on indiafm.com was posted 2 years ago and the MS review was recently posted on the website. I thought it must be an isolated case, and then I checked out all other reviews written by this particular reviewer. The outcome was the same the language was borrowed from other reviews written on indiafm.com. The worst thing was the reviews on MS were a combination of two original reviews written on different websites.

All the reviews written were on Movies. The first half of each review was directly lifted from an original review on the same movie and the second half of the review had the same language of an original review on a different movie with names of characters and actors substituted with new names.

Then I checked out some other reviews of movies written by other reviewers on MS here also the trick used was the same, lift the first part of the review from an original review on the same movie and the second half of the review from an original review on a different movie by changing the names of the characters and actors.

Then I read some other reviews they were word to word copy of original reviews published on other websites. I have come across atleast 20 reviews written by atleast 5 reviewers that were either exact copies of original reviews or had used the same trick mentioned above.

Mid-day.com

Indiafm.com

ApunkaChoice.com

Sify.com and many more.

These reviewers reminded me of Kavya Vishwanathan you had written a book but had lifted passages from other author’s books. They are giving a bad name to MS. I think severe action should be taken against them.
