Rangrezz is one who breathes colours in someone’s life and Priyadarshan’s Rangrezz is not only colourful in execution of the plot but it delivers a powerful social message , but lack of stars may hinder its reach to the masses.
Three diaper friends Rishi, Vinu and Pakkya are on verge of making something big in their lives. Rishi has a dream of marrying Megha by getting a government Job, Vinu has a dream of having his own computer institute while Pakkya wants to settle abroad due his family issues. All three friends while weaving threads to make their dreams come true Rishi’s childhood friend Joy come across as an invisible sword to murder their dreams. Rishi for the sake of friendship and in the wake of the young blood decides to do what most of the youngsters do for the sake of love and friendship and the results ??? You need to see the movie
Rangrezz is not a movie of regular Bollywood genre neither it could be put in the category of Dabangg, Singham or Rowdy Rathore as getting miscommuincated by the few critics in XYZ websites and newspapers. It is a masala flick indeed but with the power of a powerful plot, Santosh Sivan’s extraordinary cinematography, Great background score, superb music , solid performances and great direction by Priyadarshan.
Rangrezz may not gel with the lovebirds of the city so easily as it will hit hard on their face ; the line between Love and lust defined by the power of trust and few people tend to name lust as love. This may not be an easy watch for ladies , kids and few critics but still you are recommended to watch the same. Everything in life is not goodie- goodie as one has to be strong enough to face the realism; fragrance of love cannot be smelt until you pass through thorns.
Priyadarshan, the director needs no introduction and the movies on this subject has been made five times since 2009 when it was first released in Tamil. Since Rangrezz is a remake of Naadodigal the director has not tried to unnecessarily play with the original plot rather keep it the same and it looks beautiful with the Sivan’s team magical cinematography (Watch the original Naadodigal last scene here and check it yourself. https://goo.gl/6tI2o ) and pleasing with Sundar C Babu’s music. Also to be credited , the stunt director as the fight sequence and stunts has a beauty of realism unlike unrealistic stunts of Dabangg, Singham and Rowdy Rathore.
Performances, let me pick up my choices ; Vijay Verma as Pakkya is outstanding and Lushin Dubey as a Joy’s mother & the UP minister is a delight to watch. After years I have seen a lady like her with such a charisma. Amitosh Nagpal as Winu is decent and Pankaj Tripathi as the minister is powerful. Rangrezz has many characters like Rishi’s grandma, his sister, father, dhabewala , father-in-law and Priya Anand as Megha ; All characters have done their roles with heart. Now, about Jackky Bhagnani, forget his gangnam style video ; this guy has improved in leaps and bounds since its last few FALTU Movies and Priyadarshan should be credited to that. It's difficult to carry such a bold and powerful subject on shoulders but he manages to deliver it nicely.
Music, ‘Govinda Ala re’ by Sajid-Wajid is colourful and ‘Shiv Shamo’ by Sundar C Babu is the soul of the movie. ‘Dil ko Aaya Sukoon’ by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is pleasing to ears and ‘Yaaro Aisa Hai’ is a good number.
Rangrezz is colorful ,vibrant and powerful. It has a strong message for which it is recommended for the one who are confused with the term love and those who take friendship as a nest of self desire. It is also portraits the love and its importance in various blood relationships. Overall, it’s a bouquet of various flowers but roses has thorns. It’s on you what you would like to pick.
