Rameshwaram is a well known place that needs no introduction. It is an island at the southern tip of India and is close to Sri Lanka. It is accessible both by roadways and railways. Travelling in a train on the Pamban bridge(a bridge that connects Rameshwaram island with the Mainland, built over the sea) is an amazing experience one should not miss. Rameshwaram temple is huge and beautifully constructed. The long corridors and the magnificent pillars are a feast to the eyes. The temple has 21 teerthas or wells, the bath of which is considered the most sacred. One teertha, Agni teertha, is considered to be merged in the sea which is at a walkable distance from the temple. There will a'SPATIKA LINGA DARSHAN' at 5 AM everyday. You can find a lot of stay options in and around the temple. Some also provide locker facilities and changing rooms on an hourly basis. Rameshwaram is the home town of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and you can visit his house and school. Dhanush kodi beach and Ramasethu are also among the must visit places in Rameshwaram. Climate is hot all through the year and summers are the hottest. Best time to visit would be september to january.
