Story:

Love stories.... They say, all love stories are already told. Still it is love stories which are told and enjoyed the most. Why? I believe it is because young writers succeed in colour the divine emotion through new characters and situations and the readers identify the emotion to their own feelings. '..........For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains'. Rainbow, Colours of love is one such novel which guides the readers to a unique garden of romance and shows the beauty of rainbow which the readers will hope to exist for ever.

Rainbow, Colours of Love tells the story of two high spirited IIM - B graduates, Rajiv Malhotra and Sujoy Chatterjee, from different background and attitudes still share a warm camaraderie. Professional they are to the core, ready to give the 101 percentage to any assignment. No wonder they are the lifeblood of Lifeline Life Insurance Company, an Indian arm of a US financial company. Success followed them in all ventures. They risked their life, forgo their values and skipped their relations to achieve company goals. Even with all the rewards company has to offer, a cloud is formed in the sky.

Rajiv, the crowd puller, is circled by many admirers is lonely in his personal life. While concentrating on the company goals he dumped his personal life to a dark corner. Series of success was not sufficient. An expatriate orphan, the rebellious and creative kids in him always fought to possess his identity. Zia, a rebellious, ambitious career girl but submissive when her heart calls, joined Lifeline. Together they searched for a reason for a season. Do they realise that with rain comes the thunder of jealousy, lightning of revenge and flood of emotional reactions which destroy many a sky and earth. What chance a rainbow have to survive?

A reader who completes Rainbow, Colours of Love will be smitten by the turn of events, especially in the finale and no wonder the novel leaves an impact. In the era of no stories, the young authors, Sajith and Barnali succeed in telling a story which keeps the enthusiasm of the readers till end. Many ambitious youngsters in corporate environment may identify the characters to their own self and the situations surrounding them. It may also remind them of a life they ignore to possess when pursuing corporate goals. While giving life to many corporal incidents, the beauty of the story is that it managed to pull the romance angle so well, which is quite difficult task to balance. Climax of the novel is very good as well. There is an excellent twist in the end. Friendship clash with ego, Love clash with emotions - it is wonderful. . The romance between Rajiv and Zia is well narrated. Love stories should remit the flavor of romance and this novel did just that. Success is another flavour the authors used to raise the spirit of the readers to motivate and keep the interest engaged.

Another fine point of the novel is the strong characterisation. The writers didn't resort to create ideal characters. Even the most ideal character of the novel is quite imperfect and declares this is what I am, positives and negatives all comes as a package take it or leave it. While trying to create this imperfection, some logic may be missed in between. For example, if one asks for Zia's inability to get rid of Priyank, we may not find an answer. If we asks, how Zia, who possess such an analytical quality didn't analyse Priyank and future possibilities, we may not find an answer except a distant assumption that matters of heart and brain is decided differently. Readers may question Rajiv's outbursts many a time. Then, once we identify that the imperfection was created to create meaningful situations we start appreciating the effort.

That is right, the novel do have some brilliantly created situations. While many writers find it difficult to create one or two incidents to bring emotional up for their stories, the novel succeeds in creating many such situations. We don't err much when we plan and execute things. We mainly err in our reactions, that too when carried by the emotional waves of circumstances. You can see many such reactions in Rainbow, colours of love which made sure that we are given a road with a lot of turns and curves. For one who wishes to reflect, the book gives an insight on how the misunderstandings are happening in the first place. By now, if you have created an opinion that the novel is all emotional drama you are mistaken. It also has some joyful outing to a beach, sometimes to a hill and the attire? Completely casual! You can find many funny situations in the novel which will keep the readers ROFL. Even with its casual or raw nature, it does its purpose.

The novel opens a door to corporal world and its selfishness. Personally I am against the western (mis)guided fund insurance policies. I had my reservation while the lead characters worked hard to bring success. However, the authors kept their point for later and they throw light to a dark world where success comes with a price. The corporal world does not mind traveling a wrong way if they reach their goals by that. Even when the point is not stressed all out, it has given sufficient clues for readers to assume the rest.

Yes, it is a first novel from the authors and we cannot expect perfection in the very beginning. So, Rainbow TCL too has its share of drawbacks. While the lead characters are quite well developed, characters of Sujoy and Ishita left behind. All 3 molestation attempts are treated with a light hand. Also the first chapter could have been better presented. (I fear the authors given out too much here.) Few instances could have been completely removed. In few chapters dialogues and narration stand separate blocks. The first half of the novel could have been little more paced. I believe these are all secondary factors considering when there is a hooking story, well knit characters, excellent situations and some fine message.

The young MSians worth all applauds for coming out with an excellent work like Rainbow, Colours Of Love. A novel which raises your spirit to sky and bring some colours of raibow to your love, this is a book I will recommend primarily to all who have a lover in them to colour their dreams and all corporate professionals for it may be a soul search. It is a novel which has a lot of freshness in it.
