Lastly I travelled on a long trip from Delhi to Mumbai first and then to Nagpur in a very short span of 3 days. I was to continue my journey to Hyderabad for my business purpose, but being tired after a long travel, I decided to take a break and take a stay at Nagpur. So, I searched for the nearest hotel from Nagpur International Airport, where I found Radisson Blu Hotel. Being a big name in hotel industry and having hotels in almost every metro of India and in many countries abroad, I trusted Radisson Blu for my stay for its quality and service.
I booked a suite after reading a number of reviews on Mouthshut, a suite which cost me about 3500/- for a night stay, which I thought is a fair amount provided the services of the hotel being good. After booking, I got a message from the Hotel on my phone which said, I would be picked up from the airport at 9.30 evening as according to my flight schedule. My flight reached on time and I started waiting for the taxi the hotel was to send to pick me up. When I checked for the distance of the hotel from the airport on Google Maps, it was just merely 1.5 km, for which I don't think the taxi just take more than 5-10 minutes to reach from the hotel.
I waited for nearly an hour in which I called the hotel reception for atleast 6 times, for which I got a reply that the taxi they were to send to pick me up, was out of order, and so they are trying to arrange another one. So, I waited for another half an hour. So, now it was nearly 11pm evening. At that point of time, as my hotel room was booked, I had no more patience left for waiting at the airport for just a mere taxi, which was to ride me a distance of just 1.5kms. Even after getting a lot tired after a long journey, I collected all the energy I had, and decided to walk to the hotel. The hotel and the airport being in the outskirts, it was already very dark on the road.
I reached the hotel, which took me nearly half an hour, so it was nearly 12 midnight. I saw the hotel manager coming towards me with an apology, but this was not a mistake to be apologized for, because I was not left with any energy even for arguing with the manager. Now, I thought there is no point arguing and so asked for the keys to my room. When I reached the room, I found that it was in a complete mess as someone has just recently checked out of the room and the room service had not got it cleared yet. Irritated at that moment, I had a good fight with the manager, who then got the room cleaned for me, but this took another half an hour, so it got to nearly 1 o'clock in the morning. Really exausted of all this, I straight away went to bed without even having my dinner. And then the next morning, I checked out of the hotel as I had a flight to be boarded early in the morning at 5.30.
This was a complete harassment for me and that too after paying a good 3500/- for just a hardly 4 hours of sleep. Really disappointed with this experience from such a reputed hotel. I recommend to choose wisely before booking.
