To all the lucky souls who ever got to taste the ever tasty and slurpy creation of(indirectly god) south India, "IDLY and VADAI":)
I used to live in an area called Mylapore, famous for its 400+year old, Shiva temple(kapaleswar temple). The place is filled with all classes of restaurant, right from the expensive saravana bhavan to the affordable Sangeetha. But one restaurant, I should not be using this term, Eat Out is much more apt called Raayar's mess. I learn these guys have been around fro almost 4 generations serving their Hot hot idlis and Vadais.
The speciality of this place is the freshness of everything, the dough for Idly is made fresh, steamed and served for consumption, almost immediately, same is the case with the Vadais. With each of these costign Rs. 4 a piece, needless to mention that these sell like Hotcakes, so much so that we may rephrase the term to HOTIDLIS or HOTVADAIS.
Both of these are served with chatny, sambhar and a green chilly chutney, with Molagai podi and ghee as a top up option. The only other item they serve during mornings is Pongal, which is the only prepared dish. Hot Filter cofee comes as the beverage option.
They operate from 6.30 to 10 am in the morning and have been satisfying the taste buds( called jollu in tamil:)) of us Mylaporeans for decades together.
Any of you get a chace try visiting this place, near Masudhi street in Mylapore. Go there bit early coz there is mad crowd to occupy the 4 odd tables there:)
vaazhga Idli Valarga Vadai.( long live idly and vadai)
PS: Thank RAJ and OTEE for suggesting this to be a review than a DP
