Quora launched as a great alternative to Yahoo Answers and many Google searches pertaining to a question we have used to show Quora links. I too began answering questions on Quora merely for information sharing.
Then came their monetisation and the fact that even questions submitted can be monetised on the number of views, many spam users deliberately were posting useless questions, especially on controversial topics. It began to get really annoying when the answers to such questions weren't going to be of any use to anyone.
Of late, Quora's algorithm seems to have been modified in a way that new users get preferential treatment for promotion. Many of the seasoned users have been complaining that their well written answers hardly get any views compared to before.
Also, there is this problem of people deploying tactics for boosting views. More sleazy content, controversial subjects among others are being distributed on spaces just to increase click rate. Add to it are the comedy and meme kind of topics like "which screenshot deserves 1 million views?" and some idiotic meme stolen from the internet is posted there and Quora backs such posts by boosting its promotion.
There are umpteen number of posts by people more suited for being stars of Only Fans who talk about their "most awkward" situations or "most naughty" things they did.
I have seen hundreds of Quorans who have boosted their views merely by including some offensive or racy pictures in their answers with no worthy information given in the write-up.
The site's standards are deteriorating by the day. It should rather be a meme site or some sort of written form of TikTok for users with low IQ.
I have also observed many content that are ridiculously absurd but not really the trendy stuff. It makes one wonder whether there are agents who boost views of Quora using tricks just as people turn into celebrities on social media platforms.
