After reading a few reviews online, we decided to go lunch there. The little green door opened to a very welcoming restaurant with nice vibe. Basic yet beautiful décor inside. Has about 10 tables with lots of seating space and all steel tableware giving you the instant dhaba feel.
Mr. Prabakaran sat us down and offered us the extensive menu which had soups, about 25 Indian starters, Chinese starters, Indian and Chinese gravies, semi dry dishes, huge variety of rotis and parathas, rice items, noodles and chopsueys, salads, soft drinks, lassi, desserts and what caught my attention was their Combos. And yes all this in pure veg only! A haven for the Vegetarians in Mangaluru!
All combos are priced at 180 and mind you, the quantity is huge! Easily sharable between 2.
We ordered the aloo matar jeera rice combo and ofcourse I wanted to try the sarso ka saag with makki roti. Absolute delight! I wiped out the sarso saag. It was tempered with lovely red chillies giving it that smoky touch. I only wish the makki rotis were pulled out from the tawa a minute earlier, making it soft and lesser over crisp (parts were slightly charred).
The tomato soup was served hot with large croutons in it. Was basic. Lacked a bit of salt I would say. But theres salt on ure table so feel free to add to your liking.
The mango achaar on was sooooo good! I had it straight with some crunchy onions!
The highlight had to be their Mango Lassi! Served chilled, topped with nuts, thick and creamy in texture, perfectly sweetened in taste. Shauryas adores mangoes and this he allowed me only to have 2 spoons of it. Haha. You cannot enjoy it with the paper straw so they give you w dessert spoon. Or just go the desi Punjabi way and chug it down(?? ?? ????). The happy lassi mouchie on my sons face says it all.
I did see the deconstructed falooda in their menu, but had to save that for the next time we visit. As mentioned their food quantities are large so you are full by the end of it! For all that we paid 530 INR.
