Sasi has come out with a masterly work of poo .. One may recall his work with debutant srikanth in rojakoottam , however this movie has srikanth playing a very suttle role as second fiddle to the heroine parvathy who engrosses the audience with almost perfect perdormance ..
The plot is about mari played by debutant parvathy who is madly in love with her maternal uncles son thangarasu played by srikanth. Right from childhood. As they grow up thangarasu takes up to study engineering under the guidance of an ambitious father who toils hard towing luggage laden bulloct cart for survival. Thangarasus dad is a man of principals and high self esteem and is popularly called as the " penna carrer" or the man with the pen in a village earning the subtitle purely on the basis of using his pen at every juncture. He wants his son to earn and settle well in life and every time he is illtreated by the rich he owes and takes pride that his son too would be earning in thousands...
Mari is very simple down to earth girl and has a able friend to support her as they both work in a fire cracker factory. Mari is so madly in love with thangarasu with whom she had never conceded that even a small spark of words about him get her angry and furious even if it was her best friend... The balance plot of the film is all about whether Mari marries the man of her dreams and whether the dreams of the father come true ..
The plot has an message to the masses with regard to marriage between blood relations and the problems that occur owing congenital birth defects which plays a vital role with the consequence of the story it self.. however the the turn of events only show that eventually people make so many sacrifices only to find out that there dreams are unfulfilled...
Srikanth with such a suttle role doing second fiddle is a rarety in modern day cinema and thats welcoming ... The director has made sure that he captures the moods and lifestyles of the the people working in the fire crackor factory very well and the characters go with the plot including the palm trees and the other props that the director has used like the cactus fruit etc...
Parvathy rules the film with almost a perfect perdormance mixes ignorance with a will to achieve very well and the same shows where it her attempts to match heights with the hero when she imagines the foreman in the company as thangarasu and tries to walk close to him even as her friend figures out whether the hieght was alright, the enormous wrong telephone calls she makes and gets blasted , and the way she kisses the hot dosas that she makes for thangarasu and burns her lips ...
Its a sincere neat effort and though the story gets a bit dragging the director has made it sure that he mixes romance with ample amounts of comedy with the available characters in the film escpecially thanagarasus classmates who runs a tea shop ..
Music is fair but eventually sounds amaeturish with the quality of music and recording facilities you have these days.
Overall the picture is a beautiful romantic flavoured flower at times soothing to smell but looses essence as the plot unfolds. But lovers of very soft spoken subjects would love it and certainly people who want entertainment please stay away
