It just happened that I was in Chennai and was wondering what to do over the weekends when a friend of mine suggested a weekend getaway Pondicherry as an option a former French colony and home to the great sage Sri Rishi Aurobindo.Pondicherry is well-connected Flight, rail and road the nearest airport being Chennai, and approximately 130 km and can be reached by taking a cab from the airport, however, I preferred taking the bus from Chennai because I did not want to miss the exotic scenery also this place is connected by rail, however, there are no direct trains you need to get off at a station called Villupuram and then from Villupuram you can hire cabs which are available from the station and it is approximately 60 km from there.the best time to visit is during oct-mar, and it is advised that pre-book your hotel bookings. Notables places to visit in Pondicherry are 1. Auroville Ashram 2. Seaside Promenade 3. Chunnambar Boat house and if you are fond of water sports then you get options for scuba diving also. last but not the least Pondicherry beach a must visit place, Pondi has a lot of good staying options so make your choice accordingly and during the peak seasons please make your booking early, a nice getaway and a must visit place for everyone.
