I had to buy insurance policy for my one year old car and was not interested in renewing it with the existing company, policy of which was given to me by the dealer, free of cost.
Not having much knowledge about car insurance and not receiving a call back from IFFCO Tokio to help in buying their policy, I browsed through various websites and blogs to make myself knowledgeable.
Then to have an idea about the premium, I entered my car's details on Policy Bazaar. I got the idea but with that started numerous calls from Policy Bazaar.
The representative sounded professional and dedicated. He did clarify my doubts and queries but then he wanted me to purchase the insurance right away, even though expiry date was 17 days away.
He reasoned saying even if I buy it today, it will be applicable only after expiry of existing policy. But doesn't that mean my bank account is debited today, which I didn't want?
Also, I wanted to further go through all the points, not wanting to miss on anything. And then I came to know about'voluntary deductible'. Because of this, premium for my car was lowered to a great extent.
This representative who had been calling me repeatedly every day till I take his call, was disappointed to know that I wanted to go for voluntary deductible. He wanted me to avoid it but I was determined. What I noted was that he never told me about it, I had to find it on my own. Had I not discovered it, I would have paid a high premium.
He even gave me some misleading information on edelweiss car insurance. I found on Google the correct information.
It was weird when while talking on phone, suddenly I would hear lot of people shouting and cheering, making this guy's voice inaudible to me. He said that was cheering done after someone completes a sale.
I became adamant that I am going to buy insurance just before the expiry of the existing one. Only then he stopped calling me, until the date I gave him.
He sent me mail with payment link etc. and said I could contact him by replying on the same mail. I didn't use his link but paid on Policy Bazaar's website. Once the soft copy was received, I noticed a slight mistake in the city and district.
I wrote back on the same mail, asking how to get it corrected. That was 10 days ago. Still not heard from them. Their mission is over.
They say they are there to help me in case insurance company gives me trouble. But seeing their service soon after sale, I have my doubts.
Still, I will say, it is because of Policy Bazaar that I got to know about an insurance company with reasonable premium.
