Well, I don't have patience or interest to write a detailed review on this product..however, I am keeping a log of the things that happened so far, after I purchased this TV.


Just go through it and I am sure you don't require a separate review from me:


18 Jan 2005: Philips 29'' TV 29PT9421/69 Received (Set Ordered through Philips Employee)


23 Jan 2005: Set completely dead, not Powering up


24 Jan 2005: Service Man Attended the case


He corrected the Power Supply problem, replaced fuse and an IC.Confirmed there was a short circuit in the Circuit Board


26 Jan 2005: Intermittent Switch Off and Switch On started happening


31 Jan 2005: Service Man again came to check on(2nd time)


Could not understand the problem.Recommended Set Call back


31 Jan 2005: Set gone completely dead again (same night)


03 Feb 2005: Replacement Set sent


07 Feb 2005: Set suddenly turned Black & White, colour did not come


Problem is same even for VCD Player.Switched off and ON, then colour came on.


09 Feb 2005: Screen turned completely PINK, Checked with Neighbours-confirmed no cable signal problem


Then switched OFF and ON, resulted in a black&white screen.Did it again, after 2nd switch off, it came to normal colour


09 Feb 2005: Email Written to Philips Service Head with all details


10 Feb 2005: Detailed conversation with another service head on the problem


11 Feb 2005: Service Person attended (3rd time)


He switched off and ON the set, it came out black and white


Switched off and ON for almost 5 times, got only Black and White


Accessed Service Menu with the help of Service Center (tried to troubleshoot over phone)


Could not rectify the problem


Regional Service head called me, promised another replacement.I am not completely satisfied, but decided to give another chance hesitantly.


12 Feb 2005: 3rd TV arrived at about 5.30pm


Noticed that the picture alignment is not proper, both vertically and horizontally (this is definitely not expected, especially when two TVs are taken back).


Immediately called the same Service Head, explained the issue,he promised to send service person next day


15 Feb 2005: Service Engineer came and fixed the picture alignment


20 Feb 2005: Screen turned BLANK, no picture, only Sound.


Menu appears fine, but no picture.


Switched off and switched ON, again BLANK screen (black screen)


Switched off, waited for 10 minutes, then switched ON.


Picture and Sound look Okay this time.


Had no clue on why it happened, thought may be a one time problem


25 Feb 2005: Happened again, Switching off and ON helped this time also


17 Mar 2005(today, the day of reivew): Problem has not occurred again, keeping my fingers crossed...!!
