This movie is about the bombing of pearl harbor, on December 7,1941. Our American Armed Forces had a lot of our troops and ships stationed. The Japanese bombed and killed over 3000 officers and civilians. In the process they sunk our battleships, destroyers, air crafts, and a lot more. They took us by surprise, because we were at the bargaining-table with their ambassadors.
It began on a farm in Tennessee in 1923, when Rafe (played by Ben Affleck) and Danny (played by Josh Hartnett.)Are playing fighter pilots. Accidentally they start Danny father's crop duster airplane. Rafe goes after Danny's father with a board, because Danny is getting reprimanded by him.
The next time you see them, they are both grown and pilots. Rafe has to go for a medical exam, and he meets Evelyn (played by Kate Beckinsale) a nurse, who he falls head-over-heels in love with.
Rafe (played by Ben Affleck) is offered a chance to go to England to do what he always wanted to do.
Danny and Evelyn are then station in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Everything is easy going, then Evelyn and Danny gets word that Rafe was killed on a mission. Out of their grief they start seeing each other more and more, until they fall in love.
Out of the blue, Rafe is station at Pearl Harbor (he is not dead after all). He learns the truth about his girl and best friend. But, before they can air their differences the Japanese bombs Pearl.
After the bombing, Rafe and Danny goes on a mission with Doolittle to bomb Japan. Their mission is successful, but now comes their nightmare. Their aircraft is running on empty. That's it! I am not going to give away the ending.
My Final Thoughts:
I must admit, I did enjoy the love triangle. It helped me to ooze into the scenes on the bombing of our beloved country. This movie does deserved to receive some kind of award, for the footage of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The ending is very heartwarming, and unexpected. However, it is a little long.
