Don’t miss Parineeta if you are a romantic. It's a mushy tear-jerker with a happy ending. There is a love triangle and the proverbial authoritarian and evil parent but it's a very different from the standard Hindi re-makes of this same situation.
The performance of newcomer Vidya (Parineeta) is riveting and Saif (Shekhar) is not bad at all though he does give blank looks once in a while. The relationship between these two and their later enstrangement has been developed very well and is very believable. Sanjay Dutt (Girish) as the older rich man looks the part. Rekha does an item number and puts all the Rani’s and Mallika’s to shame.
The music is awesome. All the song sequences are well choreographed and the singers have all the right expressions, making the songs a joy to see.
I cried during in this movie. The last time I cried in a movie was during Kuch Kuch Hota hai. In fact this movie has shades of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Devdas and Mugh-ale-azam although it is not at all like these movies.
