Excess billing, money minded approach, harsh speak

Had a bad experience with the doctor speaking harshly and rudely. Fully money-minded approach.


I have taken the teeth alignment package in February 2020. Doctors ask for money to be paid at every visit. I went for two visits and paid Rs. 25000. 10k at the first visit and 15k at the second visit. The aligning brace was fixed. After a week's time, due to the Corona pandemic hospital was closed from March. No further review or care from them. During May month, the brace was broken and the mouth was bleeding. Called the doctors over the phone, she simply said that the hospital is closed and she can't help anything. On asking for a solution, she wanted a photo of broken rings. I sent those photos. No response from her for that. After 10 days, I again called and told her that the bleeding is still continuing for the past 10 days. She again called me then and we were advised to visit the Adyar branch fir cutting the pins. That careless response and this delay are highly irritating without understanding the problem of bleeding mouth.


Now in November got a call from the hospital reception saying that the hospital is reopened and my appointment is fixed with an instruction to come with Rs. 10, 000 of hot cash. I told in that call that u want to discontinue the treatment. I visited the hospital, braces are removed as per my request. I asked for a refund of the excess money paid.


After waiting for 30 minutes, Receiptionist came and told that no refund available as money was collected for the actual service provided. I did not agree with that. Again after 10 mins, the junior doctor called me and said the same thing. She was told that the treatment was disconnected as per my wish so they can't repay the money. I again disagree with her talk. Again after 20 mins after all the other patients left the hospital, the chief doctor called me and said the same with a very loud voice. It is pure shouting on me. He claims that he agreed to give free treatment to me, but I refused it, so he can't repay the excess payment. He refused to give the details of the charge for that 25000 paid. He said he can give his words in writing if I can write and give his words for his acknowledgment. Finally gave a letter to him for a refund of excess money paid and asking to respond to it. On receiving that letter he said that he is an employee in that hospital and going to forward my request letter to his HR team for the response.


Never pay advance payment to this hospital. The doctor is raising voice in an unprofessional way and very rude in responding to the patient. He simply going to his room while I am talking with him. This experience had in the Medavakkam branch with the doctor Chellaiah Venkatraman. The doctor is spoiling their image by themselves when we give respect to their profession and age. Completely disappointed.
