Before anybody think that I'm a sales person of the company, let me make it very clear that I'm not. I am a customtakeouter who purchased Panasonic Cube 1.25T split ac for Rs.18, 500/- on 4th Apr 2012 at Panasonic Showroom, Hyderabad(can provide you with invoice if still think otherwise).
- Decision of purchasing this product.
To start with I was having a limited budget of 15k to 17k and can only afford a window ac in this budget. However as my house is very old one and structure is of 1960's, it's not feasible to install a window ac in my bedroom as it would leave hot air to our hallway. So, I was having only choice of going for a split ac. I searched a lot if any split would fit in my budget. Unfortunately couldn't find one from brands like LG, Samsung, Godrej, Voltas etc. One fine day on an online shopping site I saw Panasonic Cube AC priced between 17k to 18k. I did some research and landed up at their showroom and paid the full amount of 18, 500/- on 4th April 2012.
Installation:
Delivery and installation were done on the same day i.e. 5th Apil 2012. The engineer took 2 1/2 hrs to install the product. He did the installation with utmost care and used only 1mt extra copper pipe. He also checked if there's any leakage of gas in the pipes. Finally he switched-on the ac to show the demo, everything went well, indoor unit switched on but the outdoor unit didn't turn on. He said it's because we need to give power connection directly from the main power as our electrical system is old one and the load was not sufficient. So, I immediately called an electrician and installed separate fuse system(Anchor AC board) and cables from the main to the AC. Then I switched it on again and "cooooooool" the outdoor unit is on and instantly I could feel the cool air blowing out of the indoor unit at 24 degrees on the remote.
Cooooooooooooling and other options.
My room size is 17 X 8 feet which is 136 sft. I got it installed at a height of 5 feet from the floor(now you know Cube can be installed at window level or high wall level also) so that the air circulation would be optimal through out the room. Once the AC is on it takes only 10 to 15mins to cool the entire room. The cooling is same as the normal split ACs. The noise level of the indoor unit is also pretty less if we use it with low or medium speed, and little bit high when on high speed. But I never used high speed as low and medium speed would really cool the room fast. Remote has no backlight, but we have bedlight on all the night, so I didn't face any issue with this. Though this would be an issue for some.
Only drawback is, it doesn't have swinging blades to control the air flow. Which in my opinion not required when you have the room cooled pretty fast. Moreover for the price of 18, 500/- with installation it's a steal.
Conclusion.
Panasonic has done a great job in developing Cube Split AC. Even I was skeptical while buying it, but I made my decision trusting the brand. Honestly there is no difference in the cooling levels if we compare cube and normal splits. Proper location of the unit and flawless installation would definitely give optimal performance out of the product. I would definitely recommend Cube over normal split ACs as they are expensive and the difference between them is only the extra features like air direction control, germ filters etc.(in my opinion)
Only thing left is to check the electricity bill. I will post an update once I get it in the 2nd week of May.
==8th May 2012 Update: ==
Got the first power bill yesterday. We've been using the AC for 12 hrs per day on an average. Before AC installation we used to get around 1100/- per month. This month with AC running for 12hrs(@26 degrees cooling) we got 3186/-, which means AC power cost approximately 2000/-. I'm not sure about how other ACs perform in this area. So, can't say if it's reasonable consumption.
Hope it's useful.:)
Thanks
