It isn't everyday I watch Tamil movies. Perhaps twice a year or so unless someone brings a CD home. This time, the name of the movie also fascinated me. Paarthiban (name of the person) Kanavu (dream). Also, I wanted to see Karu Pazhaniappan's movie who was assistant director to the famous director and actor Bagyaraj.

Paarthiban - a young man (Shrikant) is as normal as any other guy of today's times. He does not think twice before leaving his jobs and joining new ones. He loves hanging out with friends, getting up late in the morning, his bike, and maa ka laadla. He spots an attractive girl (Sneha) at the road and falls for her. To know more about her, he follows her, but loses trail. During the same time, he is pressurised by his parents for marriage and is forced to meeting a girl. He visits the girl's house and is pleasantly surprised when he finds that she is the same girl whom he saw at the road and readily agrees to marry her.

Now comes to interesting part. The joyous couple are going to their home just after the wedding ceremony when Parthiban casually glances outside and finds the same girl crossing the road. He feels cheated to marry a look-alike girl. Already in a dilemma, he tries to find out more about the girl and comes to know that she is Janani and that he has married Satya. Satya his wife is different from Janani. Even their choices ad likes do not match with him. When he is just about to resign to his fate, it decides to plays a cruel role by making Janani his next door neighbour. Satya is unable to understand why her husband is aloof and unfriendly with her. Janani and Satya become friends and Janani also starts liking Paarthiban later. What happens next – that is for you to watch the movie.

STARCAST

Shrikant - this is the first movie in which I am watching. I cannot comment much except for the fact that he doesn't disappoint in this movie. He plays the role of any nice guy born in late 70s or early 80s, respectful towards his parents but a bit too jolly to be fully responsible. I liked him more in the second part of the movie when he is in a state of shock after discovering that he fell in love with Janani.

Sneha- This movie belonged to her.Its very easy to believe that there are two characters in the movie rather than imagining that Sneha played both the roles herself. Right from the body language to outfits she just gets into the character she has done it all brilliantly. Many people here would love to form an opinion about the character they liked between Janani and Satya.

Vivek- Mannnnnn....the discovery of K. Balachandar has brought a big comic relief to all serious, violent movie. A movie is not complete without Vivek's dialogues. His role as Partiban’s friend Mano who does not hesitate even for a second to cheat people to earna few bucks makes you laugh.

Songs

Buck buck buck catches your attention filmed with four different styles of Tamil Cinema - black and white, 60s colour, Disco and present keeps you entertained.

Kana kandenadi - the most famous one is melodious romantic track and music director Vidyasagar has done complete justice to it. His music sells for sure- atleast one or two songs are hit if not all.

Alan Kuyil- this one is more like 80s romantic song where the hero and heroine are in the park singing songs. Boring and a bit too conservative…or perhaps perfect because the conservative character of the heroine is imagining it.

Bagyaraj movies though good are slightly vulgar I was pleasantly surprised that his Assistant Director did not carry any traces of vulgarity and made it quite clean movie to watch. In fact it is a perfect movie to watch with your grandparents. The characters are nice, there is no violence in the movie, there are not villains and there is no repeating of dialogue three times with background score reaching a shrill (spell it as L-O-U-D) It is what the hero says in the movie “my problem is that everyone around me is good.” It is this positive nature of every character which makes the movie good. Exaggerated expressions and melodrama do not find a place here and the emotions of all the characters are real. Oki now get a DVD and make this one be a treat for your grandparents.
