Stage 1: booked an OYO room for 2 days in Tirupati. It was booked 30 days in advance where the full payment was done and I received confirmation mail/message from OYO.
Stage2: I was busy in my packings and finally(a day before check-in) I received an SMS from ‘the great’ OYO as “Hi, Due to unavoidable circumstances, we need to change your booking Xxxxxx from Hotel XXXX to another hotel.” And the deadline I was given to choose another hotel (out of the worst 3 OYO recommendations) was 1 hour. Quickly I choose one of them. Again after 30 min, I got another SMS same as above but this time they threw (auto booked) me into another hotel which I have no clue. I called customer care and they told it is a very nice hotel. Finally, I got to the latest auto booked hotel by 11:30 AM and to my surprise, it was a junk hotel which I have never seen. It was like olden days govt college hostel rooms without lift, parking, cleanliness, etc.
Stage 3: Now I got into a real struggle where I called OYO customer care, it takes multiple tries to connect. ‘Junior’ executive picks the call and I tell him ‘I am XXXX, my number is XXXX, my booking id is DUXW4317, my original booking is at XXXX hotel, I got thrown into another hotel and it is not good. So give me a solution’. After listening all this he/she tell as I can not resolve this and I’ll transfer the call to my ‘senior’ executive. Now he transfers the call and again I repeat all the above story. This time call got disconnected again I gave a call and went through ‘junior’ executive to ‘senior’ executive. After 45 min finally, one guy spoke till the end and then told as ‘how can I believe you?, I’ll speak with the hotel manager and get back’. Keeping me on hold he connected to manager and manager responded rashly to him as don’t call him again’. This time he again called OYO manager of that region and after he listening all my above story, he asked OYO executive to shift me to another hotel couple of km away. Finally, I reached ‘new, new, new’ hotel after an hour. All this time I was standing on the road with family (2 kids ) and speaking with OYO executives.
This hotel was next to the main road where I was getting a lot of vehicle noise throughout the night and could not sleep even in the AC room. After a day I used ‘OYO assist’ and raised complaint but no response. I called OYO customer care and didn’t receive a positive response.
In all this process, OYO service was junk and I never recommend OYO.
By the way, I also realised that the rooms in these hotels are actually 30 to 50% cheap than OYO if you directly go to the hotel. Even after taking this much margin, service from OYO is junk.
