I visited Atria Mall on 11 July 2005 to see the much talked about 4 dimensional theatres Orama 4D. I had promised my wife a splendid day and expected the same from the place. Took a train to Mahalaxmi station. From there hired a cab till Atria mall which cost me 27 inr. Orama is located on the 4th floor and it seemed like ages till I reached the top as I was very excited to see the movie. On reaching there I found that 3 movies were screened at a 1/2 hr interval. Haunted House, Magic carpet and Panda vision with Haunted house ticket priced the most. Haunted house seemed more fun and hence decided to go for it.
The tickets are classified in 2 categories; Funky (priced 160inr) and wild (priced 200 inr). The receptionist told me that wild seats shake more. Hence decided to go for wild. Wild seats are only 9 in number as compared to funky. At that time 3 seats were damaged and hence only had 6 to choose from 3 on either side. Since the booking software was not installed I had to book my ticket seats as per diagram of the inner theatre arrangement. My show was for 2:30. I had 1 hr to go and hence decided to have my lunch. The time was gain difficult to kill. When the clock struck 2:15 I was all raring to go. I took my seats with great excitement but something else was in store. The ticket people had issued 2 tickets of same seats out of which unfortunately were mine.
The staff person requested me to adjust in the next show. Now for all your information there is no advance booking in Orama. Everything is current and on first come first basis. Since I had booked earlier I told them they should request the other person to adjust. But somehow I think he felt (maybe looking at my innocent face) that compromising is my nature. I thought there was no point in arguing and I decide to compromise. But hey know what....at a price. I demanded they give me 2 seats complimentary for next haunted house show. They agreed but there was one problem. In the next show there was only 1 wild seat available. Anyways I decided to go ahead coz I was eyeing 400 bucks . Okay ,so next show which was 1hr after at 3:30 I was all set. Now even if they admit u inside at 3:30 the show starts at 3:40. You are given special 3D glasses (which if you loose or damage be prepared to shell out 250bucks). As you wear the glasses and the movie starts you go in a different world.
The movie gives u a walk through experience. As for Haunted house the theme is that the spectator is entering the house through a tree branch. As you climb and maneuver different tree angles you chair starts to shake. It’s thrilling at start but becomes cumbersome as you are more worried about balance than the movie. As you enter the castle there are scenes of bats flying out in numbers. As they fly out you are hit by strong cooled air.
Again when you walk on the floor there is a scene of rats running through you which is complimented by strong air hitting your feet from beneath your seats and it really hurts. Cool air hitting your face, legs neck, throwing of artificial bubbles, rocking chair all make for good excitement. But as you get in the movie it ends. The show ends at 4:00 so in actuality the show is only 20minutes. Seeing my excitement my wife had opted for funky seat, but in the end she enjoyed more than me as she got the grip of the movie. For conclusions I will urge all of you to do visit this place for novelty. Also please take the funk seats as you get more excitement and also save some money for the snacks. Go early at least 1 hr before to book your tickets. Be there 5 mins before the show starts and remember they do not allow late comers inside the auditorium and yes.......Pray they do not install the software soon
