Three years back, I happened to be surfing the website - https://zdnet.com and from somewhere there I came to know about their e-mail service that attracted me to getting signed up to it. It was at https://zdnetonebox.com . Since it offered me Voice mail I used it regularly to voice mail people. Some time last year it became a pay site and I had to leave. But somewhere I happened to see that this was powered be https://onebox.com . I immediately went to the site and there..... each and every thing was the same. Lucky me, I got an alternative and that too with a shorter name.
Its a fact that even https://rediffmail.com offers voice mail, but using that service, the longer you speak, the more gigantic the voice file tends to be when the service attaches it to the mail and sends. I've tried it and at times, it goes over an MB too. The result is not only higher upload time for you to send the voice mail, but also high download times for the recievers end too. As for onebox, its instant.... When you compose your voice message and send, the receiver is told that he has a voice message waiting and is provided a link, which after clicking, takes him to the site where the file is available for download. 1 minute of voice recording takes just as little as about 40-60kb BELIEVE IT??? Surely the voice quality is compensated for, but ONLY A BIT. But we are more concerned with the download time right? Rediff may be clear, but heyyy, it takes a lot of space per file. Quite frustrating.
I give full credits to https://onebox.com for understanding the users needs for voice mail facility, making it efficient and also ABOVE ALL ...... FREE!!!!.
They also have the facility through which you can receive faxes from people as you are given a unique number so that person can fax you without problems, but living in India, this service is not applicable here and thus I cant use the service, but I sure AM fond of its voice mail facility.
Even though, not that bad, they could improvise upon their speeds for accessing mails, but one thing, IT SURE IS 3 times faster than hotmail!!!
