You get up with an loud ringing alarm, switch your radio on, listen to the Hinglish speaking DJ and the remixed music he plays, interrupted by the commercials...... and are able to enjoy this all, then..... this cassette is not for you.
But the serene atmosphere of bygone rural areas, air filled with birds chirping, barely audible ''Suprabhatam'' or ''Kakad Aarti'' some where in the distance is your idea of mornings... you should hear this cassette.
It has power to transform your small cramped room, located in the busy cacophony into a different world.Especially if you are devotee of Lord Krishna, this cassette is a must for you.
The album has 5 numbers, all sung by Pandit Jasraj. This doyen of Mewati Gharana needs no introduction to music lovers. For last so many decades he has mesmerised crowds in open concerts, around the world. Even at the ripe age of 72, his energy, vesatality and voice is as entertaining as before.
Coming to tracks.....
Bansi Vibhuti
This track describes Lord Krishna. The track is based on raga Miyan ki Todi and expresses how difficult it is to describe Krishna, even to those ardent Bhaktas.
Shri Krishnashtakam
This track based on raga Pilu has been written by Shrimad Adi Shankaracharya and calls Krishna by different names. Beautiful rhythm is another speciality of this track.
Vrindavan Stuti
As the name suggests, track is about Vrindavan, where Krishna spent most of his youthful years. The stuti is written by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and is based on raga Dhanashree.
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevay
This personal favourite of Pt. Jasraj is based on raga Bhimpalasi and is basically a chant of Krishna's names. The tempo and energy that this track builds up takes you to a different world, altogether.
If you like this review, do come back and read another one on ''Govind Damodar Madhaveti'', by same artiste, very soon.
