Well, I can't say I'm much of an expert as far as digicams go.. but I have been using this one off and on (belongs to my wife).. and I have to say - the Olympus FE170 is far better than the other digicams I've used. Factors contributing to this camera being really good value for money are :-
excellent Image Stabilization.
really effective settings (Landscape, Portrait, Night mode)
good Auto shooting (for amatuers like me)
easy downloading and sharing (no unnecessary applications)
very easy on the batteries
simple menu and no hi-end (confusing) functions
great internal memory (no need for SD card)
I'd say that even though the camera is just 6.0 megapixel, which is low by today's standards; in terms of size of images - the phenomenal clarity of the images makes up for this. 3x optical zoom is what you'd expect out of a simple home-use camera; and this one provides just that.
Works very well even in low light and bad weather.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this camera to any average non-professional photographer who's looking for a simple yet highly functional camera.
