I had some furniture to be sold out of which I posted an ad for an office table to be sold at 7500 Rs. As olx advertises itself that selling here is very easy, "just post an ad and reach thousands of buyers". But they must change their ad campaign and start advertising, "just post an ad and reach thousands of fraudsters".
1- After posting the ad, I started receiving messages from the other users about bargaining for the table, which I denied.
2- But after a few days, I started receiving some suspicious calls.
3- One olx user called me and asked me about the office table and it's price and straightaway without any bargain said that he is ready to buy the table.
4- This was clearly suspicious because any person anywhere in the world will try to make a bargain for a best price before buying the product.
5- I still told him that I am ready to sell him the office table.
6- I then asked him to once come to my location and check the table for any damage before buying and then confirm by paying me cash to take the table with him.
7- But, then he started making a story which many other olx users must have heard for sure.
8- He said that he works in military and is posted somewhere. And being at job, he cannot come to recieve it.
9- Then he said that he will make an online payment through UPI on Phonepe and said that the next day his wife will receive the table from me.
10- I agreed and sent him my Phonepe number to send the payment.
11- But to my surprise, instead of sending me a payment, he sent me a payment request link and asked me to put my UPI pin to recieve the payment.
12- The very moment, I got a thought in my mind that he thinks me of being stupid that I will enter my pin to recieve payment from him.
13- This was clear by then that the caller was a sure fraud.
Through my review, I want to make all other olx users to be aware of such calls and not fall into their trap to loose their own hard-earned money.
Note: The caller's Hindi talking tone sounds like he belongs to states like UP, Bihar or MP. If you receive any such call, do not make any deal with them.
