Just returned from a send off party of a friend at Ohri's Jiva. They suggested this place as they were regular's and were keen on a vegetarian buffet today. I obliged. The next sequence of events had me thinking about buffet at Ohri's for sometime.
Let me get straight to the pointers:
Cons
a. We found a small worm in the Broccoli and Pineapple salad. This is the first time in my life have I encountered this while dining out. We brought this up to the shift manager on duty and as expected they were apologetic and promptly change the plate for my friend who got the shocker of the evening. As this was a special moment for him, we continued with hesitation instead of walking out.
I realize everyone has a bad day. This could be one of ours(or theirs in this case).
b. The Air conditioning today evening was not working to the mark. We and the folks around us were sweating. We told them twice but still no joy.
c. Some portion of the food like pasta in red sauce and the paneer starter were not refilled inspite of reminder.
This is a typical Ohri's buffet spread option, so nothing really out of the way struck me.
Pros
a. The staff was attentive and replaced plates and refilled water very promptly without reminders.
b. The location(Begumpet) is a big plus for folks wanting a decent buffet option in this side of the city.
I'm writing this blog today with the taste buds of a foodie but also as a customer who experienced sub-standard food quality.
I want to ask this question to whoever may read this to help me with what is the common practice when someone's experience's sub-standard food quality. Do you end up not paying the bill? Do you get up and leave?
Just for clarification, Ohri's ended up giving us a 10% discount on the entire bill for the experience.
I want to share the following ratings un-baised on the overall experience and hoping to hear from my fellow foodies.
Food: 2/5
Price: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Ambience: 2/5
