Ngage all the way

I know the phone I am about to review is liked by some and disliked by many. Still I would like to put in my inputs about this very useful creation by Nokia. Ngage was not primarily released in India. At its time of launch, the current trend here was of smaller sized phones and hence its predecessor NgageQd was released here keeping in mind the gamer’s community. Not much is known about Ngage. I would like to put forth some wonderful uses of this piece of class.

USB 2.0 connectivity

---------------------

Whether it is Mac, Linux or Windows, just plug and play with the Ngage and hitherto u can transfer all Ur data. This is a unique feature of Ngage as compared to other phones which require Nokia Pc suite to be installed as the work with Nokia USB. The feature almost saved me from suicide as I could back up my 4 years of research work on the Ngage when a virus hit my comp. Just wont trade this for anything else

Bluetooth

------------

A great connectivity feature offered in very few select models at the time of Ngage launch.

Mp3 player

-----------

Has a built in digital Mp3 player with presets like jazz, Pop etc. The sound quality is absolutely fantastic. The phone has two different outs for speakers and Fm Radio which enhances stereo quality and gives a rich sound. Play Niravana on Ngage and the current N70 (which I recently bought) and the Ngage out performs it both on speaker as well as headphone levels

FM Radio

----------

Should I explain more? Very few models of nokia have both coupled together.

Recorder

---------

Okay u may say what’s so unique and great about a recorder, it comes anyway with all phones. Hey come closer. U can record Fm songs directly in aac format. Now I am not promoting piracy but which other phone can boast of this feature. If u have a mem card u can record an entire FM program Cool

Games

--------

A section best left commented. FPS games like Ashen, Red faction which can take u through hours of excitement, a joy which can only be envied by 6600's and N70s as they can hardly risk their button pads to play these games. But with Ngage hey man just go on and on.

Image Viewer with Screenshot

-------------------------------

Just snap away cool 3D graphics by turning on the screenshot. The phone also has an inbuilt image viewer to view all images.

RealPlayer

-------------

A built in component. Plays real media files.

NgagePatch

--------------

A add on utility to store Ur messages directly to the Mem card. A cool facility.

Others

---------

Host of other features like composer, gprs, browser etc which is found with other Nokia phones.

Comparison with NGageQD

--------------------------

The Qd guys do not have USB support, No Mp3 or Fm (either one of it is missing I dunno which), Can’t record FM; Require a MMC reader to install games. One facility which is cool is that Mem card slot is external so that u don’t have to dissemble the phone like NGAGE to pull out the card. A feature NGage could do with, (but hey since USB is there u can directly install from the PC).

It is really difficult to get NGAGE in the market. The monster was a cool gadget but a case of right thing launched at wrong time. I still pride myself on being an owner of this beautiful piece and enjoy the envy on others face when they can just show off their mobile while I can actually use mine to do a host of things.

Cons

-----

Can be a bit large to keep but comparing with the N70s and widescreens that’s not an issue. No camera. The side talk can get cumbersome but hey that’s when u get all the attention. The problem can be solved by locking the keypad and u can talk the conventional way.
