I have used ONLY Nokia phones for life and I am proud that I never had to switch to any other brand for 'experimenting' with an Android. Yes, some good phones use Androids but somehow my jump from an E series to a Windows Phone was supposed to be rather smooth. From a CDMA 2255 to a flip top 6085, followed by a brick and keypad C5-00 which was the last legend among alpha numeric keypads before it succumbed to a bad fall in 2012. I caught up with the smartphone era, waiting for a better Nokia OS on an old E66 which was no way a lesser device but simply out-dated.
I had a budget of 15k and was eagerly waiting for the Lumia 620 to arrive in India. Right when I was going to make my move and order a black 620, they announced this stunner. For a 4k extra, they would take away the chubbiness and give me a moulded Gorilla glass, a Carl Zeiss snapper, a 2000 mAh tank and a 4.3 inch of beauty which even at lesser ppi of 217 was deemed sharper than ~250ppi on the 620. I had no choice but to wait.
The WP8 was always on my radar for its minimalistic yet involving UI design. The Androids by Sony and Samsung in the sub 20k range were making a lot of noise to get some attention but my love for Nokia made me remain strong and wait. The OS is simply flawless and shall in future, with the upcoming Windows Blue make for a killer combo given all our new PCs will be running Windows 8 or Blue. Once the ecosystem is set, there is no looking back. Seamless integration between your gadgets is not that far because come on let's accept it, Windows OS will be around for quite some years to come.
Primarily, with your cellphone, be it worth 1k or 40k, you want to make a phone call at 7pm or not? You need battery, right? You mostly run short by a few hours on weekdays due to heavy inflow of mails and on weekends when maps and social media suck the most out of your smartphone? Well this is where 720 shows its magic. Say goodbye to charging at work. Yes. I am not carrying my USB cable to work any more. This one reason should be enough for making up one's mind. The useless-at-work background apps don't suck the life out of your phone by 5pm itslef. Isn't that's a pleasant surprise esp if your phone has a sharp 4.3 inch screen and you do the talking for really long and whatsapp all the time quite literally!
The hardware is no legend killer or something but just right for the daily user. If you are not a hardcore gamer and just a time pass gamer like most of us, the 6.7 MP Carl Zeiss snapper should give you more pastime options and some amazing lense and photo editing apps take it to a whole new level. Oh and the front camera is the best you shall get at even double the price. If the normal mobile user in you is thinking of taking on to gaming after you buy a great phone, dear, that is not going to happen. A true PSP/Xbox/Sega/Nintendo owner/gamer would know (I am not one).
Buy a Lumia 720 for : its battery, primary camera, looks, screen, front camera, flawless and simple UI,Dolby enhanced music
Do not buy a Lumia for: heavy graphics gaming, fiddling around with extra apps which have less functionality and rather slow down your phone.
