Well my long dream of owning a phone with the best camera got accomplished recently and here is the review of my Lumia 1020:-
About FACT- You know, good moments happen to u only when u dont have a camera. And u fell for it without capturing it. But when u have had a DSLR or Digicam right with nothing will happen. I experienced this b4 though I own a Canon Sx130is and an Canon 60D EOS. Now capture every moment at all possible places and at all times with the 41MP camera!
Why me and Lumia 1020?- Okay, as I said b4 I was looking out for a phone with best camera. So, first my eyes went to all these -
1) First, Spice 1200 - rejected it coz I didn't like it personally.
2) Then, Samsung W880 AMOLED 12M- One of the best probably, in fact I still love it because it had 12Mp, 3X optical zoom, 5X digital, xenon flash and specially a Dial mode. But it never came to India.
3) Then Finally, Nokia 808 Pureview- Confirmed to buy it in dec 2012. But after a month or so, they said the phone has stopped production and won't be available any more. I was back into! :(
4) Then again, S4 - Rejected it becoz I normally hate Samsung.
5) Then, Altek A14 LEO - Couldn't as it never came to India just like w880.
Then Finally decided to buy Lumia 1020, becoz it had the same camera as than of 808 pureview! Lumia 1020 - Purchased in April 2014, white color for a cost of Rs.47200 for Nokia Showroom.
Pros -
1) 41 mp camera with xenon flash.
2) 2 GB Ram.
3) Win 8.0 OS, simply awesome.
4) Super fast Internet browsing.
5) excellent feather touch screen.
Cons -
1) The main con is, "Battery." I hate it. It doest even last for a day that too with camera usage.
Without using camera, Attending a few calls, with FB and Whatsapp activated, the battery drains at the end of the day (almost 14hrs).
With using Camera, attending a few calls, using FB and whatsapp frequently, the battery drains out within just 8hrs.
-With full usage(at Parties, marriages, etc) like taking numerous photos, many calls and FB, I guess the battery wud drain out in 4 to 5 hrs!
2) Not that user friendly like the Symbian Nokia. But is good in other ways.
3) The descriptions says the phone has FM Radio. But in actually, there isnt any FM Radio in the phone.!:(
4) No Memory card slot. Thou it doest really matter as the phone has 32gb of inbuilt memory. But in case of emergencies (like drop of phone into water or LCD damages), I don't know how any would save his photos, files from phone (in the absence of PC, laptop)!
5) Phone gets heated up pretty faster. U click 3 to 5 photos and the phone get hot. I guess thats y its called "Hot Phone."
6) Signal reception is very weak at closed building like Shopping malls, theaters and even inside house. Didt expect this to happen.
7) (IN INDIA) not like Iphones, not enough accessories available for Lumia 1020 in my country. If u wanna buy any any accessory for this phone, u gotta get it from Online and that too with limited options. :(
8) Little Pricey I guess. Hmm. (But for the spec it has, the price is acceptable).
Well though it has Cons, I really really love this phone. " Nokias are Legends for Sure "
Update 1(June 2014) - Found Signal reception low on this phone. Only 3 to 4 bars best maximum reception u can get(with Airtel). At malls and offices, u wud get 1 or 2 bars when idle, and call drops when u take the phone in hands to receive it. This is one big flaw with lumia phones next to battery.
Update 2(Aug 15, 2014) - Just got updated to Cyan 8.1.
Wow! I just started loving my Lumia 1020 even more now! It has increased the beauty of my phone. I don't think the battery has improved, Bbt it last for 2 days with normal use. I am not a mobile freak, so its bearable. I have changed to Vodafone now, so I think the signal drop problem should have been improved.
Love my Lumia.
