Nokia 7250i is Nokia entry handset for colour + camera phone combo. Its a sleek handset with all facilities one can expect from a mid-level phone. Its neither for the price-conscious nor for the no-bar buyers. Its aimed at customers who want the basic functionality along with other interesting features.
Nokia 7250i box comes with the following accessories :- A battery, a handsfree and a charger along with the handset. The handset itself has black keys set in a plum coloured frame which is not too attractive to look at. Nokia had initially floated it in two more colours :- black and blue but the vendor told me that they had been discontinued.
Still Nokia 7250i has Nokia Xpress-on colour covers which can be used to change the looks, so looks are not such a big issue.
The features of Nokia 7250i are as follows :-
- Camera :- The Nokia 7250i has an integrated camera which offers a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. This offers a decent picture quality good enough for amateur photography in light. These pictures can be edited, sent through MMS, set as wallpapers and also transferred to PC using PC suite.
2.Polyphonic Sound(MIDI) :- Nokia 7250i supports Scalable Polyphonic MIDI(only God knows what it means !) but in layman terms, it can play polyphonic ringtones. The ringtones can be downloaded over the network or the net. PC Suite offers a sound-convertor to convert your favourite songs into ringtones. So you can have a ringtone of '' Stairway to Heaven'' or ''Fear of the Dark'' which are not available otherwise.
3.Java Applications :- 7250i supports Java 2. That lets the user download new applications and games and upload it to the handset to have a more comprehensive gaming experience.
GPRS & Infra Red :-7250i supports GPRS over GPRS enabled networks. It supports three simultaneous GPRS connections i.e. at max only three jobs can be done. This also allows a user to use 7250i to as a modem to connect to internet over a network. The infrared port can be used to connect to infrared devices to send or receive data. This allows cable free transport of data from say a notebook(infrared) to the handset and vice versa.
Radio :- 7250i also as radio support allowing the user to listen to radio on the move. But use of radio for long time results in large consumption of battery. For radio usage, the handsfree with the handset has to be plugged as it also doubles as a radio receiver. It also allows user to save a particular frequency to tune to immediately.
6.Others ;- Other features include organizer (stop watch, calendar, alarm clock etc.) , SMS, MMS etc.
Moving over to the financial aspects. Nokia 7250i is available for around 9500 with bill. It also comes with a one-year anti theft insurance and two years extended warranty. With Govt. cutting taxes, the prices may go further down.
All and All, Nokia 7250i is a good enough buy for anyone wanting just a bit extra along with basic mobility. With competition in camera phone markets hotting up, there might be much more available from other companies as well but Nokia always scores in battery standby time and reception.
