Flip-Chip. Review on Nokia 6260

I like this mobile. It was among the first clamshells (flip open) with the Symbian OS produced by NOKIA. The style and looks of this mobile is very manly, and another good thing is that this mobile can stay n your hand and not appear very prominent (something I had to face with NOKIA 6600) I have the black colour of this mobile. It has all the features one can ask for in a mobile, a camera, radio, blue tooth and IR port, and the basic stuff like, alarm clock, phone book memory etc.

Other than that, it has a RS-MMC (Reduced Size-Muti Media Card) slot which supports upto 512 MB memory card.One of the best things I like about this is that the clamshell can rotate in any possible direction, and NOKIA haseven given different names to the movements like work mode, cam mode, browsing mode etc. One of the problems that are faced is due to the OS, which will need replacement or reinstallation many times (specially if u r mobile savvy like me, and keep experimenting with the mobile) and if u install many softwares or such sutff, the phone gets slow and really gets on ur nerves when it takes more than 2 seconds to open the menu and other things like that.

The battery life of this handset is good, doesn't get discharged easily, and if it dus, u need to replace the battery. The outer light is kewl, it glows while charging and blinks when a call is received. Other than that, in the music field, the mobile can play all types including wav and mp3 etc, with very less internal memory however, to use the mp3 feature u need to have a memory card. The player through the phone is mono but using the supplied headset it is stero. Similar stuff with the radio, however the radio requires the headset to be plugged in before playing.

After about an year u wud notice that the silver lining on the inside of the set is wearing off and leaving black marks which look quite disgusting, so you have to change the cover (get them at Palika Bazar or Sarojini Nagar), white looks pretty cool too.

The camera is a VGA 640x480 resolution, not good quality but doable with.Video recording is also possible depending on the free memory in the MMC, (not allowed to be saved in the phone memory).

Some features like Push-To-Talk (PTT) etc are not usable in India, since no service has been launched for them. PTT is actually a wakie-talkie service over GSM networks.

The games also are nice, I liked the Bounce game best, the snake ex has a sequel to it, snake ex II, which is far more better.

All in all, a good mob to be with, but requires service and maintainence every few weeks.
