Value for Money:

Bought Nokia 6030 a week back. I find the following features that are very useful:

  1. No frills simple, light weight phone that can be carried in your shirt pocket without much fuss.

  2. People who dont want a camera phone and instead prefer to have a phone that can be used for phone calls in dual-band coverage and live music entertainment like FM Radio.

  3. Need a phone that has good button's that are wide and clear to operate while sending SMS messages. I find the keyboard much better than its near eqvi model from Samsung C230. In fact, I prefered Nokia for this feature (well compromising on tri-band feature)

  4. The look and feel and customizing this phone is pretty easy and I did configure my cell without going thru the manual.

  5. Headphones supplied with the system is OK but much better in quality in comparison to Samsung C230. The switch on headphone comes very handy in changing FM channels and accepting / disconnecting calls while listening to FM.

  6. For my usage pattern of calling/rcv'g atleast 10 calls per day and each with at least 3 ~ 5 minutes duration, listening to atleast 2 hours of FM (min) per day - the battery is still holding on for 2 dys without recharge. For details on talk time - etc - Pls refer to model catalogue. My view is on practical side where person can associate it in real life.

  7. Games provided is just one - I am yet to use the same .

  8. Browsing is possible with GPRS -again I dont use this as I have other better alternatives.

Update (after a month's usage):

a. The sound clarity is superb! especially when the headsets are used. When enquired about the sound clarity rcvd on the other side of the line - the response was that the voice is very clear and crisp.

b. Display is bright and very good. Power saving settings keep the battery for a longer time by switching the display off whenever not in use.

c. Radio reception inside the building is dependent on the signal strength. In B'lore I can get FM91 without any problem. However other channels were not that clear as FM91.

d. Calculator is very good and easy to operate with easy to use keyboard.

e. Sending SMS is really easy - thanks to nice keyboard and switches.

Updated (11-Mar-2006)

Nokia 6030 it is literally used as a mini PDA. I use the meeting organizer to schedule my telecons and meetings.

While on handsfree and Loudspeaker, Nokia 6030 has the ''Mute'' feature which I find very useful while taking the conference calls on my way back home. Mute feature mutes out the external noise while you are not speaking and the other people on the conference dont have to hear the noise and interruptions. The combination of this feature and my Optra's reduced noise levels - I have been able to save quite an amount of time.
