So the cheapest available phone with all the features ACTUALLY NEEDED is what the Nokia 3315 is about. Was actually gonna buy the 3310 but with the price difference being so negligible ( Rs.300) did settle for the 3315. Forget the 3350 unless you are one of those rare species who use WAP. If you use WAP buy a more expensive phone.
Over the 3310, the 3315 is supposed to have a Lithium-ion battery. No big deal as it still last for less than 2 days ( that is provided you don’t talk too much ). If you have more bucks to Spend I’ve been told that the Samsung N500 or something like that is the phone to go for.
Looks wise its kinda neat that candy bar shape with the buttons all integrated ( over the 3310) with a light green cover ( which you have to buy – can interchange to another colour afterwards). I feel it’s a bit too big (compared to my eric – T28 ) but its light.
Does come with a whole lot of features for its price. Has a Picture Editor which I found completely useless (don’t have the time for that ) same goes with the ringtone composer (if you play the xylophone then maybe you can compose a ringtone – for us mortals just download the tune you want ). Graphics can be also downloaded. Other features include a timer-controlled keypad that locks the keypad after a specified time (good feature for accidental dialing ), currency converter (if you need to convert currency OFTEN then you should go for a better phone in the first place ), and countdown timer.(for that 0 -100 kph time your car takes – provided u’re not driving otherwise the time it takes to get to heaven )
It’s a dual band phone though so Prepaid Airtel works on this phone while it did not work on my Erick. There’s no calendar like the 3310. Don’t know if this happens to all the 3315’s or Nokia phone’s as a whole but when I open the Inbox for sms it kinda takes a long time to open. (2 secs ain’t long but my eric opens immediately). Can change the SMS alert though. Love that. Hate my Erick for that irritating sms tone. Besides my sis loves changing the screensavers with a different one often. Similar goes with the covers.
Got some SMS chat or something like that. What the hell is that. Wish someone would enlighten me on that and tell me the difference between only SMS and SMS chat. Its Multiple SMS sending though is an amazing feature ( happy New Year to everyone ). You’ve also got SMS templates which is where you can store standard SMS to be sent rather than saving it in you Inbox.
The phone has only two languages. Wonderful. I don’t know anybody who uses a language other than English on their phone. Also it great for those kickass friends who change your language to “gjrio;eroitu” and you don’t know how to get it back to “English”.
Finally the only remaining reason to buy a Nokia is that it has great resale value and with the number of great new phones coming up ( with a digi cam, colour and all ) you might be tempted to trade in this phone for which you will get a great price (compared to other phones ). I'm sure my sister will get bored of this phone soon hence this was one of the most important reason for my buying the Nokia 3315. Even then I'm sure u'll be very happy with it. I know that my next phone is gonna be a NOKIA.
