Hi, Got this phone in april 06 for about 2700, had a bout of depression when it went for 2100 a month after that.. But buying a stop gap phone for a few months, you cant complain much or just go buy something secondhand. The first thing that looks striking is the reverse monochrome display, a normal resolution, but with green text on a black border really looked cool, and the dimly lit keypad looked classy too... well in my opinion atleast.
The text is easy to read in daylight also, provided you have not scratched the screen too much and your vision is alright..A very slim form factor, packing a BL-5C battery, ensures that the talktime and standby time are longer than normal. 4-5 days of standby with no or little use, and about 3 and a half hours of talktime with heavy use is possible, and moreover it charges in a very short time, great for people on the move continuously. I rate the network strength above several phones, like my review on the motorola L7, at one place on the border, where I frequent regularly from my house, the nokia would still catch home network, but the motorola would go for the stronger signal, ie of the roaming network, and I would lose 50 rs talktime each time...
The key pad is easy to use, and a breeze while messaging, helping you churn out long long messages with no trouble...I like the memory storage for messages, unlike other phones in the range, upto 80 messages, plus your sim capacity can be stored on it. Plus there is a 250 entry phone book, which adds to expandibility of the phone.A very interesting feature in this phone, also present in the 2600, is number screening, Screen the numbers u dont wannt receive a call or message from, Irrespective of the profile on the phone, the phone will not ring or vibrate when such a number calls, only the number will flash on the screen, and then will get saved as a missed call.
Any messages from that number will be stored in a separate folder, preventing anyone from going through them. * Use ful if you have more than one girlfriends.... heheOne flaw in this phone, is the absence of a calendar, If it had that, its a complete phone, because then scheduling your work becomes that much more easier. The key pad 4-way key edges on my phone have just started to show signs of wear after about 9 months of heavy use, but then replacing them is a matter of 200 bucks.
Cant say the same about the new 1110i and the 1112, because I just got my mom one, and the keypad seemed very cheap in build quality as compared to the one I have. The ringtones a nice to hear, but on a professional level, you cant select any, except probably the nokia tune. The rooster and the cackle do sound pretty authentic, but wont help much when all u need is a basic ringing sound...
