I have been a nikon dslr user since 2009 starting from the d5000 then moving up to the d7100 and finally when I wanted to go in for a full frame the choice was between then d750 and d810. The d750 won since it had a tilting screen great for movies and wifi, great for transferring images to my phone on the go.

what makes this dslr a beast?

Its got a great autofocus system, great iso sensitivity and 24mp and good number of focus points. which is better than its competitors canon 6d.

Why did I not go for the canon 6d or the canon 5d? The canon 5d is a known favorite among many, the simple answer being I am used to nikons interface as well as I have a lot of nikon lenses.

My first two months with this camera was fun low light and long exposure images were better and iso noise was the least, noise starts creeping in over 8000 it gets worse at 12, 000. The autofocus was fast and acurate though some of my lenses needed its focus to be tuned but not a big task. the battery can do about 1400 shots, about 400-600 long exposures and some 2000+ burst mode

performance wise this camera tops the charts but quality wise I think nikon made a goof up.

The first issue being I found dead pixels on my lcd and nikon stated that its on the edges and two in middle so its considered normal, the next issue was a recall for the flare which nikon fixed and had it back to me in 4 days, the next issue was when my battery which came with the cam stopped functioning and I could not use manual lenses since it would not detect them.

Nikon told me theres no warranty on the battery and gave me the dealers contact to go and buy a new one, for the lens issue they changed out the mirror box and had it back to me in 3 days.

the next issue was when my shutter would get stuck and a blinking err message displayed on my lcd readout. Fortunately nikon had a recall for it and took 10 days to fix my camera.

Post the repair the shutter does get stuck at times and this is a major turn off when you use your camera to earn a livelihood.
